Seems like to me your humidifier is turned up too high. I had mine up too high and had a similar problem. Sometimes the machine can turn itself up by itself, or, could be a ghost.

I don't know if raising the humidity would help or not.

I think you should go with a dme that accepts medicare. You can always buy extra stuff from elsewhere, but, you will not regret it. Supplies get expensive as time goes by if you buy all that stuff yourself. My two cents.
