Re: My experience with Provent

Even with a heavy duty chinstrap clamped on tight I could still breathe through my lips. So I got a full face mask and put the nasal pillows in the drawer. It works fine.

Re: OT - Statins and You

What about aspirin? My husband has taken one of the small ones daily for years even though he is very healthy. I saw this article just now and wonder if my husband should discontinue the aspirin. aking a daily low-dose aspirin to prevent heart disease may actually increase the risk of major gastroin...

Re: Treating sleep apnea without the mask

Proof of what?

You have used it for 7 days (nights?) and still haven't had a good night's sleep?

7 days without CPAP and I would probably have a stroke or a heart attack.

Re: Restless Legs and Apnea

Anyone else diagnosed with Restless Legs as well as the Apnea? My doctor said that I had really bad leg movements all night in addition to my high rate of apnea. He prescribed me gabapentin (Neurontin) to treat the legs, and a CPAP for the apnea. He suggested I take the gabapentin (Neurontin) daily...

Re: OT:Good Calories, Bad Calories....

I went out this morning to run an errand and on the way back stopped at a grocery chain where I do not normally shop.

Got a little chuckle at one of the aisle signs.

Aisle 5

Re: OT - Statins and You

Statins May Cut Cancer Risk Post Heart Transplant Statin therapy may help prevent the high long-term risk of cancer among heart transplant patients, researchers found. After adjustment for age, sex, cardiomyopathy, and immunosuppressive therapy, cancer-free survival was 67% better among statin user...

Re: dry mouth with full face mask

Am I likely to get used to it? The problem is that it is the dryness that is waking me up. And it only seems to happen during the last couple hours. I am fin until then. Many of us tend to do more mouthbreathing during REM when the muscles do a maximum relax. We are having more REM sleep during the...

Re: How important are snores?

I'm six weeks in, my AHI is consistently 1-2, and I feel great. However, a couple weeks ago, my sleep doc & DME noted my elevated VS2 scores and upped my pressure to 16 and suggested adding a chinstrap. My leaks are better with the chinstrap, but my VS2 continues to range anywhere from 3 to 10+ (av...

Re: A new apnea patient's journey - starting with Provent

In clinical practice, the clinician is frequently faced with having to make a decision between a therapy that has a better success rate (such as CPAP therapy) and other available treatments that have relatively lower response rates but are more likely to be used by the patient. In this context, the...

Re: Anyone tried provent?

I so agree with you 49er! It would seem many people here are very adverse to new ideas or even people raising the topic of alternatives to CPAP. CPAP is obviously an excellent treatment for some people ... but not everyone and you can't blame people for looking into various options that may be avai...

I've been on beef ranches and dairy farms.

It is not the cows you are smelling.

Cows have a pleasant smell, are warm and nice to rub.
