Re: first night results: not too bad, not perfect
Flow limitations are limitations of the flow of air within your airway. If they originate in your nose, there's not much PAP can do for them; the nasal structures are too rigid. But if they originate further down, in your pharynx, EPR can help to stent sagging soft tissues so that the airway remains...

Re: first night results: not too bad, not perfect
As far as your therapy goes, your machine can compensate for leaks up to 24 and probably up to 30. So from that perspective, your leaks are OK. The question is whether the leaks are messing with your sleep. It's clear you slept through some of the leaking, and it's equally clear that at several poin...

Re: first night results: not too bad, not perfect
Excellent news all around! (It's nice to see a 0.0, isn't it? But that's quite rare; don't be aiming for that.) At this point, what matters are not the numbers but how soundly you sleep and how rested you feel. I suggest you continue with your current settings for at least a few more days. If all go...

You did some impressive snoring for a while there! Do you think maybe you rolled onto your back?

Re: Feedback on first night OSCAR data
Welcome! It's great to hear you felt more rested after using your machine. As you get more and more used to the new experience, I'm betting you'll fell more and more rested. I don't know what happened in the weird gap; maybe someone else can tell us that. You have a nearly constant low-level leak. T...

Re: first night results: not too bad, not perfect
Many thanks for the Sleep HQ charts. You had some very nice stretches of peaceful sleep last night -- good to see! I recommend turning your ramp off. Your ramp pressure is 4, and if you're doing well with the small increases in your minimum, there's no reason you shouldn't have that same experience ...

Re: first night results: not too bad, not perfect
If your EPR is 3, I'd suggest a minimum of 7; if it's 2, a minimum of 6. This will let you have the same EPR "feel" all the time. (The machine can't go lower than 4.) Be sure to check whether you have separate settings for ramp. Or just turn ramp off, if it's on.

I just googled, and Amazon has the headgear for $19.70. Might be your best option.

Re: first night results: not too bad, not perfect
To avoid that air-starved feeling at the start of a session, I'd recommend a minimum pressure of 6 or 7. Do you have EPR on? (It drops your pressure by 1, 2, or 3 when you exhale.)

Re: Sleepy, too many arousals?
Welcome! Increasing your EPR did an amazing job of clearing up flow limitations and snores. You might consider raising EPR to 3 and also increasing your minimum to keep your obstructive events well-controlled. To see any "missed" events, we'd need to be able to look at your Sleep HQ charts. Could yo...

Re: first night results: not too bad, not perfect
It's great that you've now actually slept with the mask and machine, with excellent AHI results. What are your pressure settings? You describe twice feeling air-starved at the start of a session, and that makes me wonder whether your minimum pressure (either regular or for a ramp period) is quite lo...

I wonder whether Xylimelts might help you. They are small discs that stick to your gums or teeth and stimulate salivation throughout the night.

Re: FIRST NIGHT - help?
You're off to a great start! Exhalation is usually fairly passive; you don't ordinarily need to exert your muscles much at all. But when you use PAP, you do need to push a bit to exhale into the stream of pressurized air. This can cause some muscle soreness at first. It will go away. Also, as you ma...

Re: Treatment Emergent Central Apneas- Resolution?
Yes, my CA index has gone down over time. I think some of this is due to my having fewer arousals during the night, and some is due to adaptation involving changes to my apneic threshold. I have to add, though, that my CA index varies a lot from one night to the next. Last night it was 1.2, for some...

Re: Does this look like palatal prolapse?
I don't myself see a resemblance between your flow-rate traces and the traces in the articles you link to (or in additional images on line). Instead, I see periods of fairly slow and/or shallow breathing, not the shut-offs typical of palatal prolapse. I don't know how to optimize settings on an ASV....
