Re: Titration results - Should I be mad?

So my primary doctor got together with the sleep Doctor who wrote the titration results, and they decided that it was best to refer me to a sleep disorder specialist because neither one of them wants to take the responsibility for signing off on the bilevel machine. So I finally get a call fr...

Re: Titration results - Should I be mad?

Update My primary doctor, not a sleep doctor himself, got my messages and agrees that he can’t see the sense in putting me on CPAP 10 when the tests clearly showed bilevel 16/12 was better for me. He’s going to reach out to the sleep tech doctor who wrote the results and get them to explain the reas...

Re: Titration results - Should I be mad?

All the recommendations talk is from the sleep tech/dr. My primary is out until Monday. I have preemptively emailed him after seeing the sleep study results, and I hope he sees this my way.

Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Titration results - Should I be mad?

What documentation was there for the obstructive sleep apnea diagnosis? Obstructive/hyponea index during diagnostic study? Here is what I put on the forum after the first sleep study: During the no-mask period, I had 42 respiratory events consisting for 15 apneas (3 obstructive, 1 mixed, and 11 cen...

Re: Titration results - Should I be mad?

What I don't understand .... were centrals present on the diagnostic sleep study??? Or did they pop up with the beginning of cpap treatment? I couldn't find that bit of information in your past posts but I could have missed it. That’s a two-part answer. First, the reason that I initially went to th...

Titration results - Should I be mad?

Hi everyone It took a couple weeks, but i finally got my titration results. Let me know what you think Study ran from 10:56 pm to 6:19 am. Total sleep time was 143 Minutes or 38.0% sleep efficiency of 377 minutes. 28 awakenings with total awake time after onset of 187 minutes. Sleep latency was 46 m...

Shallow Breather - I couldn’t sleep

Hi all. I had my titration study last night. Got there early and got fitted with a Dreamwear cushion and then promptly lay there for hours! I was relaxed, but never slept. At 2:30 am, I asked to go to the restroom, but it was more because I wanted to start over and because I was going stir crazy in ...

Re: Mom's bilevel?

From your old post/sleep study report.... you had approx 9 Central apnea index without cpap/mask and roughly 8 per hour with cpap. So essentially unchanged number of centrals. Several reasons why I don't recommend that you go playing with your mom's machine. 1...No way to monitor results as that mo...

Re: Mom's bilevel?

If you had no mask on.....how do you know you had "so many" centrals? The same way they do for anybody else...all those wires and sensors. They started the sleep study with no mask on, but I was still connected to 26 sensors for brain activity, eye activity, leg activity, and nose and mouth breathi...

Re: Mom's bilevel?

But on the other hand, since my titration is Wednesday, I just might keep her bilevel offer open if there's a delay in me getting a machine. You guys could definitely help me to get that set up after the titration session, right?

Re: Mom's bilevel?

Can't say re the tech stuff, but consider how long (? yrs) you went without Cpap and lived to tell about it here. :) This is true. But I think I'm more aware of it now that I've been told I have it. I actually woke up the other day from a dead sleep and thought there was an earthquake, but I now th...

Re: Mom's bilevel?

In your place, I would sit tight and go without a machine until the titration. the main reason is that we don't have anything to go on in advising you about settings. I've also read that if you use a machine right up to the time of any sleep study, this can distort the results. Have you heard yet w...

Mom's bilevel?

Hello all. Knowing that I have another week for my titration study and who knows how long to get a machine, my mom has offered me her spare bilevel machine during the interim. Is that even possible for treatment of centrals? Is this a dumb move or a good one, or is it better to just keep going maskl...

Re: Small rant

If you already know who your equipment supplier will be (and they are NOT the place doing the titration sleep study) you might call and ask if they even have the ASV (assuming that is what will be prescribed) in stock or will they have to order it. At least get some sort of idea on a time frame. Th...
