Re: Machine causing insomnia
When I filled out my signature I saw a long scroll down list of machines. I didn’t see mine (AirSense 11, so I clicked on the AirSense 10 since I assumed it would be similar. Do I need to get an SD card to run an Oscar report? Since I can’t sleep with it on I assumed those reports were pointless. O...

Re: Machine causing insomnia
What is the pressure relief (EPR)? When you go for your mask fitting tell them to give you an SD card. I had to ask my DME for mine. You can buy your own for less than $20 but it should be provided. Get a copy of your prescription. Does it say your minimum setting should be 5? Ask for it to be raise...

Re: DME called-My Airsense 11 arrives next week!
Congrats! It's easy to google your new machine once you get it to see how to change the settings. But the DME should set up your machine according to your prescription. Have you been to your doctor lately? You might not need to go in for a visit if you can send the doctor a message through a patient...

Re: Just got AHI (24), waiting on CPAP
But then it occurred to me. I wake up gasping. Sweating in the bed. My chest feels tight, sometimes my BP is high, and I feel anxious and foggy. Have you been tested for asthma? I had the same symptoms even with using a cpap. I had a pulmonary function test which was stopped after 3 minutes and the...

Re: Machine causing insomnia
This is an example of an OSCAR report for a 5 minute test I just did. If you will sit and use your machine for just 5 minutes you can load the data into OSCAR and post a screenshot showing your device settings. You may need to scroll down the left side so all the device settings will be captured. mu...

Re: Machine causing insomnia
Don't you have the user manual for your machine? Even if you don't Pugsy provided a link to it online or you can easily google it yourself. And since I have the exact machine you say you have I looked at my manual and on page 5 are the directions to get to "My Options" that you can change without go...

Re: Machine causing insomnia
My doctor said no reading in bed because the light from the reading device (kindle, phone, etc) is not good for sleep...I looked at her and responded I'm reading an actual BOOK. lol She also said don't go changing your settings! Uh, I haven't changed my setting since I got my new machine EXCEPT for ...

Re: Machine causing insomnia
I agree. I tried to stay positive and to help but you can't help someone who doesn't want it. To join a group just to complain to strangers isn't helpful.

Re: My best numbers in over 10 years!
I got an AHI of 0.14 last night. There was 1 CA about 5 minutes after I started the machine. I woke up early today, around 6:10. I guess I only need 7 hours of sleep. But I just looked back and see a 0.00 on Friday 7/8. Yay! I started daily and rescue inhalers for my newly diagnosed asthma on 7/7. I...

Re: Machine causing insomnia
Yeah, I was in my early 20s and about 130 pounds. My 300+ pound doctor told me I should lose weight. I think sometimes they just say it to everyone. Doesn't matter if you're in good shape. Skinny people have sleep apnea too although obesity and alcohol can be a factor. I think you said you had a sle...

Re: Machine causing insomnia
I had a pretty bad time adjust to cpap and the mask. I found laying propped up with pillows and reading or watching tv until I felt like rolling over to go to sleep helped. When I'm ready then I put the mask on. I'm relaxed and about to fall asleep by then. You have an advantage in that you can ask ...

Re: Machine causing insomnia
Oops...sorry about the broken links. I would sure try to adapt to a CPAP before heading to surgery to implant a device. What happens when you don't like that either? I just noticed you have the Elite model with fixed pressure. Mine is an Autopap. During my sleep study it was determined I needed auto...

Re: Negatives effects after started using my CPAP
Welcome to the forum. Your mask could be leaking and blowing in your eyes causing the eye issues and possibly waking you up enough to cause grogginess. Try to adjust it so that doesn't happen. Have you tried wearing an eye mask? Have you downloaded the OSCAR program so you can look at the report? Re...

Re: Machine causing insomnia
OK, getting your machine and mask type is a good start. AirSense 11 is listed as starting with an A for AirSense instead of R so you can edit your signature to choose it. It happens to be the same machine I have now. That mask does look like a lot of stuff on your face. I couldn't get used to my fir...
