Re: Unbelievably tired after a night’s sleep with CPAP
Medication might be a factor. Take a good hard look at your prescription and non-prescription meds. Also, anecdotally, I saw a change in my sleep after CPAP therapy started. I used to sleep fitfully at night and then nap whenever I could during the day. After starting CPAP therapy, I suddenly found ...

Re: Help/tips on transitioning from full face mask to nasal pillows/mask?
I was told to choose the largest pillow that fits. The pillows should not enter your nostrils. My machine is set to AutoOn. I put my P10 on, the machine turns on, and then, when the pressure is high enough, I gently pull the pillow away from my nose and then release it. The pillow jumps back to my n...

Re: New to using Cpap (a bit lost...)
Welcome!
I am also new; started about a month ago. The folk here helped me through my initial stages. In fact, I found this group much more helpful than even the trained professionals in my sleep lab.
Hang in there!

Re: Why is my Face Swollen?
Regarding swelling, you may have received an insect bite during the night that caused swelling, and then the swelling was exacerbated by the pressure from the mask and headgear. Regarding ResMed AirTouch F20 Full Face Mask, boy, I remember that mask! I started XPAP about one month ago, and spent the...

Re: Flow Limitations - Min Pressure Too Low?
It's true the Resmed machines are hard to get right now, but there are ways to find them. I got my Resmed AirSense 11 Autoset just last month. Kaiser Permanente ordered it for me.
Best wishes to you.

Thanks! I will rest easier now about the water. I've been using tap water for almost a week with no visible mineral deposits.
Sent you a PM but I think it's sitting in my outbox with another PM.

Re: First Night!
Pugsy, I read the thread about using distilled/un-distilled water in Resmed XPAP machines. That thread is now closed. Did I understand you correctly: Distilled water is only required in order to prevent mineral buildup in the humidifier tub itself? Meaning, if we don't mind cleaning the tubs or repl...

Re: Why do some people hate full face masks?
In contrast, I assume a full face mask of the right size that covers the mouth and nose without leakage or excess pressure anywhere would work for almost everyone without problems, and would need less pressure which would in turn produce less noise. Your basic assumption is incorrect. FF masks are ...

Re: Help/tips on transitioning from full face mask to nasal pillows/mask?
Yes, I relate. I switched from FF to pillows and am in sheer heaven. I also have the AirSense 11 Autoset, but went the route of the P10 pillows. Very similar to your choice.

Re: new issue-soffocating feeling
My Resmed AirSense 11 settings are 7-12 with ramp on and set to auto. My therapeutic pressure is 10. The seven is just fine when I go to bed initially, but when I wake up in the night at 10 and get up for a few minutes, I come back to find the 7 suffocating. Now, 7 to 10 doesn't seem like much of a ...

Re: Flow Limitations - Min Pressure Too Low?
You mentioned that you don't really 'trust' your machine, and so you are just riding out the 12 month contract before getting another one. Let's not minimize this issue. Trust is important. If you cannot trust your machine to work correctly - to keep you 'safe' - how will you ever manage to rest? Ca...

Re: Help/tips on transitioning from full face mask to nasal pillows/mask?
In addition to the great advice you've received so far, let me ask: Did you change the setting on your CPAP machine from full-face to pillows? The setting change makes a huge difference, as I found out when I switched from full-face to pillows.

Re: My Airfit P10 nose pillows slip off
Yes, I agree, your P10 issue likely relates to loose headgear. The new P10s do have new headgear with an adjustable strap. I ordered an extra from thecpapshop.com just yesterday for $11.50. By the way, I sleep on my side and stomach but have never had the pillows leak or disengage. BUT I have a larg...
