OK. It seems that this is a good place to get help, if you're willing to subject yourself to rudeness, arrogance, and a disdainful disregard for any criticism, however instructive it is intended to be.
Thanks to all who have helped, but this isn't for me.
Lars out.

Re: What exactly is a "flow limitation" ?
@pugsy: I suppose the confusion I have is where you (or somebody) says: "Even if you just have a lot of different questions specific to you ..." (my emphasis) The question I raised in this thread does not seem to me to be specific to me. It's a general question about how CPAP machines work. At no po...

Re: What exactly is a "flow limitation" ?
I think that you have to realise that most people on this forum are sleep deprived to some extent. They wouldn't be here otherwise. That makes us all a bit grumpy to put it mildly! Fair enough; and I'm probably not at my best at present, either. But still... I have other questions, and I now have a...

Re: What exactly is a "flow limitation" ?
If I may take up a little of your time ... My goodness. I don't think I've seen my failings so comprehensively and studiously documented since my first wife divorced me. You only omitted to point out that I repeatedly leave the toilet seat up. I have to say that I'm baffled. What started out as som...

Re: First OSCAR data
About sleeping with the FFM -- some people find it useful to use specialty pillows with cutouts on the side to accommodate the mask. Take a look on Amazon to see whether anything looks likely to help you. Thank you for this suggestion; I will follow this up. Dealing with the mask fitment is the har...

Re: First OSCAR data
We need to be patient and let our bodies adjust to things before trying to fix something that may not be broken at all. Thank you, and I am trying to be patient. The complication is that I don't have any classic sleep anpoea symptoms, and the graphs, and the AHI figures, don't affect how I feel in ...

I don't think palerider is being an asshole. His is a perfectly reasonable request – one which is primarily for your benefit. If the users of this forum really prefer to have long threads with a jumble of different topics, then of course I will comply. It's not something I've seen on other forums -...

Re: Coughs and colds
If I sneeze into my full face mask, I usually just wipe if off with a kleenex and watch it later. Is it normal practice to switch the CPAP machine off, to wipe the inside of a mask? Or just leave it running with air hissing out? If I leave it running, the machine turns up to maximum flow, but it do...

Re: First OSCAR data
You commented that the whole period was about 40 minutes long. Is it possible you were tucking your chin toward your chest during that period? This posture (whether you're on your back, stomach, or sides) can make it easier for all kinds of restrictions to develop in the airway. Thanks. I think tha...

Re: What exactly is a "flow limitation" ?
I don't think that last point is correct. It's not to do with the duration but the percentage of reduction in the inhalation breath as far as I know when it comes to FL's. My Oscar print-outs show FL's of as short as 2 seconds. That's what I'm wondering about -- if these machines look at data in fo...
