Re: Can I put a few drops of Vick Vapo Steam in my CPAP Humidifier?
I don't see why not. (snip) Just put VapoRub on your upper lip. There's a reason that pure water is spec'd for the tank. Have a thought for the hose too... aromatics don't belong in the system. Yup that will work too but just so we are clear, the reason for recommending DISTILLED water instead of t...

Can I put a few drops of Vick Vapo Steam in my CPAP Humidifier?
I don't see why not. CPAP humidifiers work in exactly the same way as regular steamers except with far less temperature (for obvious reasons). Adding a drop or two of the Vicks Vapo Steam (or similar products) to the humidifier water should have the same effect. Just don't go pouring in a half a bot...

Re: Philips discontinues many products
Glad to see these products discontinued. Most of them are well over 15 years old and with todays technology, many of them can be integrated together. For example there is no reason why CPAP machines of all different models can't be replaced with ONE ASV NIV model Everyone with OSA or CSA can benefit...

Upgrading The Defunct Resmed 2G/3G Modems
There may still be people left out in the cold with their expensive 2G/3G Resmed machines, unable to use their Resmed Air app or connect to their healthcare provider. Good news is that 4G LTE Modem Cards for Resmed 10 series machines can be purchased online at places like eBay and if you can hold a ...

My Replacement Dreamstation ASV is a little Noisier Than Absolute Quiet
So on my first nigh trying out my new replacement ASV machine, I noticed that I could hear the blower, especially when the machine increased the pressure to over 10 cmH2O on backup breaths (Yes I deliberately hold my breath a few times before falling asleep, to make sure the machine will do as progr...

Re: Vital Sign Tracking Rings
I personally don't get the reasoning behind using health toys for constantly monitoring things that I would have no way of treating/tweaking anyway. "Health toys" (the kind that you can't get at Toy's R Us), can save your behind one day because if you don't have a clue about your vital trends, then...

Vital Sign Tracking Rings
I have a big CSA ( Central Sleep Apnea ) issue. In a nutshell I stop breathing altogether as soon as I fall asleep. Clearly an internal circuitry malfunction which causes other issues such as sleep depravation and some serious coronary issues caused by massive drops in Blood Oxygen Saturation Levels...

Re: How long is your Sleep Inertia?
I too find that my sleep inertia very much depends on which stage of sleep I happen to be, when I wake up (or my alarm clock goes off). This is something that I can check and corroborate with, using my sleep tracking smartwatch. If my alarm goes off when I am in the deep or in the middle of a REM cy...

How long is your Sleep Inertia?
According to the CDC and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the definition of Sleep Inertia is " a temporary disorientation and decline in performance and/or mood after awakening from sleep. People can show slower reaction time, poorer short-term memory, and slower sp...

Re: An Unheard of ZERO AHI
Philips Respironics machines are not very forgiving as they monitor a lot of factors with each breath, so getting a Zero AHI is quite difficult with a Respironics. I am glad to see other people getting Zero AHI though because this validates my results. Good job everyone. Its not easy to get used to ...

An Unheard of ZERO AHI
An AHI of ZERO over a 7.5 hour sleeping session hooked up to a Philips Respironics ASV machine is unheard of, yet I am achieving it quite often these days, after 18 months of therapy. (I AVERAGE 2.5 EVERY NIGHT EXCEPT FOR WHEN i hit ZERO). When I was first diagnosed with "severe Central Apnea" my re...

Re: CSA - was prescribed a bipap but it doesn't seem right
Dear friend, your Oscar sleep data is horrible. First of all you only had the mask on for less than a couple of hours in total. I am assuming that you were up in between and took the mask off. You need to see your doctor immediately. A BiPAP machine is NOT going to help your clearly SEVERE CSA. Also...

Re: CSA - was prescribed a bipap but it doesn't seem right
Your sleep study is quite poor in that you only had a sleep efficiency of around 40% (you only slept 218 minutes out of the 500 minutes or so that you were being observed). 218 minutes or roughly 3.5 hours, is not enough to get a good snapshot of your sleep , however observing Central Apnea for a tr...
