Re: Is PAP Therapy Helping You Sleep Better Or Do You Just Have A Hunch?

Anyway, I am sure simple to use EEG devices will become more and more ubiquitous as we go along. There was the Zeo available when I started cpap therapy 13 years ago that used EEG and it was okay I guess but it went kapoot and didn't make it in the market place or get really upgraded. My hope is ev...

Re: Is PAP Therapy Helping You Sleep Better Or Do You Just Have A Hunch?

When they come up with a reasonably priced device that actually uses EEG data for sleep status reporting....I might buy one then. Yes, Electroencephalogram (EEG) produces the most reliable signals to be used for sleep analysis however somewhat more difficult to incorporate the technology into a con...

Is PAP Therapy Helping You Sleep Better Or Do You Just Have A Hunch?

Back in 2018 Fitbit analyzed some 6 billion nights worth of sleep data that they had collected from their users. See link to a Yahoo report about it HERE . That study found that people in general only experience deep sleep roughly between 10% to 18% of their total sleep time, depending on their age....

Re: Central Apnea-Is It Normal To Stop Breathing More Than 30 Minutes At a Time?

... the normality of 30 minute breathing cessations. Wouldn't that be "the abnormality of 30 minute breathing cessations"? At any rate, that was never the case. AAMOF, there are ~270 breaths in the supposed "cessation" as the thread title is very misleading. There you are. Back again, ha? Your insi...

Re: Central Apnea-Is It Normal To Stop Breathing More Than 30 Minutes At a Time?

I am aware of NO study which suggests long-term use of CPAP by OSA patients contributes to the development of CSA, idiopathic or otherwise. Thanks for putting up with me in your thread. I wish you well. You could have just googled this one. It is called "Treatment-emergent central sleep apnea" Here...

Re: Central Apnea-Is It Normal To Stop Breathing More Than 30 Minutes At a Time?

So I am putting this out there in case there's a live CSA person on a ASV machine, who has had a similar experience and is as curious as I am about this strange phenomenon. To conclude this post while taking into account relevant commentaries, here are my thoughts on this topic; First and foremost,...

ignorance towards Central apnea
This is rampant in forums

Hey, just me. One man's opinion. And please take it in the spirit with which it is intended.

Sleep well.
Yup, that makes 2 points that we can agree on.

Tidal Volume is managed by Philips Respironics ASV for the purpose of managing Central Sleep Apnea. ResMed ASV maintains a constant Minute Volume to manage Central Sleep Apnea. http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php/OSCAR_-_The_Guide My understanding of your May 24 Oscar report, specifically betw...

Re: Central Apnea-Is It Normal To Stop Breathing More Than 30 Minutes At a Time?

Another great sleep and only two short total cessations with an AHI of 3 something. If this were my Resmed Aircurve 10 ASV, the AHI would have shown as ZERO with missing critical data such as "Patient Triggered Breathing" because Resmed algo simply ignores much of the flow related events and doesn't...

Re: Central Apnea-Is It Normal To Stop Breathing More Than 30 Minutes At a Time?

To which point are you referring? a. That REM is "random". b. That REM is the "deepest stage of sleep". c. That people only dream in REM. d. All the above. D. It's not easy to write such a short sentence that manages to get so much wrong. It usually takes me an entire forum post to accomplish that....

Re: Central Apnea-Is It Normal To Stop Breathing More Than 30 Minutes At a Time?

To get back on topic here and as I mentioned in my OP, there are times when my involuntary breathing does not drop to zero %, like last night's session below. As mentioned before, my Minute Ventilation and my Vt remain also very stable as compared to the times when my involuntary breathing drops to ...

Re: Central Apnea-Is It Normal To Stop Breathing More Than 30 Minutes At a Time?

So nothing that has anything to do with the subject of this thread then. Hey, don't blame me, Skippy. You're the guy who was more interested in showing everybody how clever you think you are. You want to discuss? Let's discuss. Explain why you think a tidal volume of 922 ml is "well within the norm...
