For anyone with moderate-to-severe OSA, I consider any substance that sedates or that depresses the nervous system to be life-threatening when taken near time for bed.
It really is, absolutely.
I don't even have OSA, yet the episodes of OSA while drunk, are through the roof that night.

Going To Bed With Countess Walewska Has Its Pitfalls..

Like most people with good taste, I like a shot (or three) of vodka every now and then. I like mine kept in the freezer set to -4F (that's -20C for Metric people), when vodka thickens in the bottle and pours more like sweet syrup than vodka and my second favorite brand next to Grey Goose , is Counte...

Re: Pressure and the heart - any truth to this?

First, some background, and then a question. I've done quite a bit of reading about CPAP, and I've never come across that claim. Is there any truth to it? = I would ignore Rubicon's Remarks in their entirety. There are no scientific studies that have linked cardiovascular issues to "pressure settin...

Guys, I just arrived in Myrtle Beach this afternoon after a 12 hour drive and little sleep last night… just laid down for a good nights sleep and realized that I packed a new hose, but forgot headgear!!!

Fastest way is Amazon.

Philips "Updates" its Dreamwear Full Face Mask Instructions-NOT EXCATLY A RECALL

Despite online panic setoff by the usual suspects, the latest Philips Respironics scare seem to be a simple "updated" set of instructions for the use of their Dreamwear mask with full face Cushion or other masks that use "magnets" in their design such as a pair of "magnets" used for securing the low...

Re: Six Months To Get Used To Wearing A Mask And Six Months To Respond Positively To Therapy..

My experience was similar to Gear. It took much longer than I thought. I was able to sleep with the mask on pretty soon, probably because my pressure needs are low. And with respect to Gear, I'm not sure we can get "perfect therapy." On the other hand, it clear to me at we can get significantly bet...

Re: My Philips Dreamstation broke following a power outage this morning. Need help.

Alright, I still need some help here. I notice that the Humidifier doesn't turn on. When I go into the clinician settings I don't see any options for humidifier. I have a non-heated hose plugged in but I don't know how to turn on the humidifier. Try the humidifier from the old one. Also, try the ol...

Six Months To Get Used To Wearing A Mask And Six Months To Respond Positively To Therapy..

....which is how long it took me to finally start seeing repeatable therapy results. So if you are relatively new to PAP therapy, don't be too hard on yourself. This is a process. Let's face it, getting your face into a mask every night, is not a natural thing to do and your mind won't simply be acc...

Re: Philips DreamStation replacement question

I’ve been using a dream station apap for quite a long time now. I finally registered my unit for a replacement due to the foam on the Philips website. The problem is, I have used my DME provider in several years. I’ve moved twice to different states since I stated, and I’ve just been buying new mas...

Central Apnea: Detecting CSA Events Using Desat Signature

In the follow-up to my last post [/b] which attracted way more than the usual numbers of off-topic responses(!), I ran an experiment last night, in order to see if my recent drop in AHI and "machine initiated breaths" are an indication that my ASV therapy of the past year has in fact been remedial a...

Re: New APAP machine with Oscar

This makes sense. Thanks Dog I read data from two entirely different machines into the same Oscar profile and Oscar has no issues with it. It simply recognizes which machine it is reading from and charts the data for a given period, accordingly. Some issues arise when I use both my Resmed and my Re...
