Re: Activa mask has major airflow coming from swiveling connector area

Did this major leak just start? I have been using the Activa successfully for years now. First with the old S8, and now for the past oh, 3 years? with the Airsense s10. I keep a few masks clean for the weeks run (5 to be exact). Out of the blue tonight, mask after mask failed with major leaks. Never...

Kenny, I am a nightly Activa user, and also use the S8 Elite. What Bill has stated is accurate in that as long as you have the mask type set to Activa (not a bad idea to check to make sure it is set to this), the leakage you are seeing is above normal. In other words, if you would have a perfect sea...

Brian, I've been using a Resmed S8 Elite for over a year now, and am very happy with its performance so far. I was really hoping to get an APAP machine when I got this one from my DME. I may pursue an APAP purchase out of my own pocket depending on how my therapy continues. Over this year I've had g...

Twostepper, My UMFF whistled when I initially got it, but that noise was coming from the exhaust vent. I removed the silcon vent piece the mask, and on advice from someone here, cleaned it up good and kind of "worked it" around between my fingers. I also found some residual silicon hanging around th...

Jodie, I've been on CPAP for a little over a year now. I can remember having a lot of new aches and pains when I first started. One thing I did was exactly as Jeff stated, get the gear routed so that the impact on your sleep is minimized. I have mine run overhead and use medical tubing (can be bough...

I'll also recommend the Activa. I am on CPAP for a little over a year, and own three. Very comfortable, though some users claim it to be a little larger and heavier than others. The active cell feature takes getting used to initially, because as you breath in and out, it responds in kind like a bell...

Cascade, Sorry that link didn't work for you. Try this: http://www.myresmed.com/MyResMedUS/page.do At the top of the page, click on "Products"; on the next page click on "Masks". Scroll down to the "Ultra Mirage II Nasal Mask". Under "Product Links" click on "User Manual" which will take you to a pa...

The difference between the two masks, although based on on one night's comparison, appears to me to be about 17 LPM, which like most of my posts here, is a lot of hot air. That leak from the elbow cannot, IMHO, be a feature, it is a defect. I agree with you with the defect statement. I am trying to...

Good to hear!

I received a Quattro from my DME around a week ago (lot #169326). I also own a UMFF which gets used sparingly; I do like the quick disconnect, the strap system changes and the new forehead adjustment on the Quattro. I definitely feel leakage at the elbow on my Quattro. I can't say I hear the leak un...

Quattro: Good Lot #'s?

Hey guys, I have a question for the board regarding the new Resmed Quattro mask. I have read on this site that some users are experiencing issues with leaks at the elbow fitting. In some posts things were stated that gave me the impression that newer "lots" of these masks might not have this issue. ...

Not sure about the Spirit, but on other Resmed machines if you press and hold both the "right" and "left" buttons for about 3 seconds, you will be able to get into the "Efficacy Menu". Hope this helps.

Re: A few newbie questions

Leak - 40.8 L/min. I this good? Bad? Do I care? There seems to be a leak in the mask, not around edges where it contacts the skin, but in the hose where it connects to the elbow joint, where the quick release is. Welcome, I would say this leakage is very good. Assuming a 90% pressure of 11.8 cm, th...

Actually, I've been thinking about rigging up a way to use my wife's hair dryer to force warm air through the hose. I'm guessing that it wouldn't take more than about five or ten minutes of warm, fast moving air to get rid of most of the moisture. OCO, I had the same thought. The "hang the hose ove...
