Re: Anyone else experiencing connection problems here on the forum

I frequently get a "Site can't be reached message" but this disappears after a second or so, and the site then connects. It seems to be running very slow.

Re: Leaks and MyAir reporting

MyAir is a really poor way of managing treatment, and can give quite misleading results. However if you're consistently getting 0 out of 20 for mask seal, then there is a problem. As Miss Emerita said, the machine cannot properly diagnose events during periods of large leak, so you low AHI may well ...

Re: Prescribed CPAP settings setup for replacement machine

I will look into monitoring now. How does that work? I thought it needs to be done by professional, but it doesn't seem to be the case, correct? If you require compliance for insurance or licensing purposes, then professional monitoring may be an issue. But for most of us it's quite easy to do it y...

Re: Prescribed CPAP settings setup for replacement machine

G'day always-tired, welcome to the forum. You don't need to rely on a provider to set up the machine for you - it is an easy DIY setting. See here: https://www.apneaboard.com/resmed-airsense-11-setup-info To get the best out of the machine, get hold of the clinical manual, available from Apnea Board...

Is there anyway to tell if they are real?
In Oscar or SleepHQ, look closely at the breathing waveform immediately prior to the apnea. If there is a big spike of inhalation or a few seconds of very erratic breathing, then it's likely a false alarm.

Uncle Nick has a video out today:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmeQ66NPhTA

Shows clips of a user finding degraded foam... way, way yuck.
It was quite disturbing to see the amount of degraded foam actually inside the impellor housing.

Re: Apria or Lincare

Almost 10 years and only cosmetic? How do you know that the fan and the motor is less powerful? This is not a technology that moves very fast. All the algorithms are pretty well understood and have been for a few years. In terms of the motor in the AS11 series, various people have pulled them apart...

I didn't get the paywall thing either. Now as to why no one else but you got it....
Like I have always told you....you are special.
Seems like I'm special too...

I vaguely recall DeVilbiss announcing quite a long time ago that they were exiting the sleep device market.

Many thanks Red.

Apart from AVG anti-virus playing silly buggers (easily fixed) it downloaded and installed nicely.

Re: Apria or Lincare

No the air curve 11 is a BiPAP. I never use it CPAP. So is the AirCurve 10. The 10 is a solidly built, highly reliable product that has been around for years. The 11 is a cosmetic upgrade and a functional downgrade (ie smaller / cheaper motor & fan), but the bilevel models have only been on the mar...

Re: Help for the clueless

Obviously the leaks are the main concern right now, and other factors really only come into play once the leaks are under control. You can ignore the flow limitations - Resmed ASV machines report limitations differently from other types. From the Apnea Board wiki: Flow limitation is a common charact...

Re: Can a CPAP machine truly revolutionize life?

Everybody responds differently. In my case, CPAP treatment (actually ASV):

- Stopped me falling asleep in the car on my way to work
- Stopped me falling asleep during work meetings
- Completely cured my heart palpitations.

The machine will give you a red frowny face if your leaks exceed 24 L/min for 70% of the time or more.
It's 30% or more of the time above 24L/min.
Oops! I got it arse-about.

Re: is the myair app accurate

The machine will give you a red frowny face if your leaks exceed 24 L/min for 70% of the time or more. Below that you'll get a green smiley. However, this is a ludicrously low bar to set. In this case (only) the data from MyAir is more "correct" than relying on the smiley face on the machine.
