How did you end up with this outdated machine if you don't have a doctor or insurance? How were you diagnosed with sleep apnea?
I went to a clinic then lost my job and health insurance so got the machine online from a donation place for $100.

Re: Feel horrible on CPAP

Just to mention it again -- your symptoms also seem similar to those of hyperventilation, which results in CO2 levels that are too low (stuff copied/pasted from trusted web sites): Symptoms of hyperventilation (too little CO2): Fast or deep breathing Shortness of breath or the feeling that you can’...

Re: Feel horrible on CPAP

Or just arrange them so they'll be unlikely to cover the holes when you sleep - after all, you said your symptoms were horrible, or aren't they? Yes, and I have several symptoms that are listed as effects from too much CO2: Fatigue An inability to concentrate or think clearly Headaches Flushing Diz...

Re: Feel horrible on CPAP

Exactly - we need to be careful not to cover the vents with bedding or anything else to allow CO2 to escape, tho' a thin sheet apparently shouldn't be a problem. Hard to say for sure but I do have a lot of blankets and pillows and at times I’m sure my position could be covering the holes. well, try...

Re: Feel horrible on CPAP

Something just occurred to me - does your mask have a small area with lots of tiny holes - where CO2 is supposed to leave when you exhale? Any chance you covered it up for any reason? Because if so, you may have been re-breathing CO2 all night and that could definitely cause your symptoms... possib...

Re: Feel horrible on CPAP

Well it looks like my laptop doesn’t have an SD slot. :/ there are converters available so that you plug the usb end into the laptop and the other end has a receptacle for the sd card. like these- https://www.amazon.com/s?k=usb+to+sd+card+reader&gclid=CjwKCAjwzMeFBhBwEiwAzwS8zL-KggECRm_HYwqmTjTX-hZ...

Re: Feel horrible on CPAP

You don't need BlueTooth to use the software. You would need a SD card though which are available at just about anyplace...Walmart has them. I have a Phillips Reatoronics Remstar Auto A-Flex System one. This model is compatible with the OSCAR software. BlueTooth isn't needed and to be honest the ap...

Re: Feel horrible on CPAP

Hyperventilation--yes, that. Causes: maybe physical or environmental. Stress much? I had hyperventilation from stress--they said it was panic attacks. They stopped when my horrible boss was replaced. I tried to use the machine when I first got it for a few weeks. When I got used to wearing it the s...

Re: Feel horrible on CPAP

Well....without a doctor it's really difficult for sure. About all we can do is look at the data your machine gathers when you do use it and see if anything is standing out screaming as a potential cause of a problem. Like excessive pressures or a lot of central apneas happening and maybe (stress t...

Re: Feel horrible on CPAP

Oceangirl, your symptoms reminded me of a post from Rick Blaine to another person with similar symptoms. Rick said it might be hyperventilation syndrome -- more here: https://www.saintlukeskc.org/health-library/understanding-hyperventilation-syndrome# He also provided a link to this self-help leafl...

Re: Feel horrible on CPAP

I don’t have a doctor or insurance. So I can’t really talk to anyone. This also doesn’t always happen even on the first day of retrying the machine. It will happen after 2-3 days on it every single time. My legs and arms are very numb and I’m dizzy and feel very light headed. I guess I’ll just be un...

Re: Feel horrible on CPAP

It says my pressure is at 90 percent. I also do have issues with vertigo but I’m not sure why I would feel so disorientated, dizzy, hyped up and panicked. It also can last the entire day and not go away.
