Re: Questions about the transition to Medicare and when/whether to get new machines
With all due respect to the posts above, and not wanting to start a pissing contest, there may be another path. I concur that if you are considering a Medicate Advantage plan, it is best to look very carefully at the details. IF you are a Kaiser patient, and IF you are considering Kaiser Senior Adva...

Re: Aerophagia
Given that OSCAR is the best approach, you may decide to decrease your minimum as suggested above. If you find going from 12 to 8 to be a big change, consider lowering your pressure incrementally and holding for a few days before lowering again. That may help accommodate.

Re: Recommended approach to trying new masks - pls help
The NIH has an article at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4301251/ which concludes that nasal masks or nasal pillows should be the first choice. Nasal pillows have a smaller area to seal than FFMs. Since nasal pillows only need to seal around the nostrils, there is no issue regarding a ...

Re: Water.
Here's an experiment to try. Set the temperature to your preference, and set the humidity to auto. It's free to try and will set the relative humidity given the temp you like. I too prefer cooler air, but 60 is darn cold for some PAPers.

Re: Anyone having trouble with backordered nasal pillows?
I had a recent out-of-stock experience. Heretofore, I had good experience with Apria (yes I know they get beat up a lot on this forum) -- but not this time. It was time for a new P10 and extra pillows; they normally provide 5 extras. This time the mask arrived but not the extra pillows. Thinking the...

Re: New User Confused About Mask Seal Leaks
MyAir is a "feelgood" app. The info on MyAir and on the machine itself is very limited. Without OSCAR, the experts here are deprived of detailed data needed to give you the best advice. Glad you are headed in that direction. It's the right thing.

Re: Resmed Airsense 11 and dry mouth
I believe my dry mouth is caused by the mouth popping open during sleep -- and the humidity setting and temp setting does not cure the mouth opening or adequately compensate for it. In my case, taping was the answer. I have found silicone tape to be very effective and much less painful to remove tha...

Re: No effect from humidifier.
Ejbpesca - can we return to the subject of taping for a minute? We share some common experiences - tried several approaches without success. After trying about a half-dozen different types of tape, I have found that the cloth-based tapes and plastic tapes do the job but are painful upon removal (fee...

Re: Resmed Airsense 11 and Compliance
Also, if there is an issue, you can explain your travel (maybe documents will help) and get more time to demonstrate compliance. They won't yank your chain without warning. Your machine may have come with an SD card in it. If not, buy one and put it in. Smallest capacity you can find. Then when you ...

Re: First Night on APAP w/o Diagnosis - Does my OSCAR AHI of 19.27 Confirm that I Have OSA?
OP's chart seems (to me) to indicate lots of clustered events, pointing to positional apnea. I suggest considering a soft cervical collar. For OP's info. Positional Apnea is when your body is in a position that cuts off your own airway. NO amount of pressure will solve this. Think of a kinked garden...

Get a str8 razor. You know you want it.
Just kidding.
I second the P10. Facial hair is not a problem. I sleep on my side and it seals well.

Have you tried a pillow mask? Much less area to cover - ohly the nostrils. The rest of your skin is unaffected.

Re: Doc told me not to use the humidifier
Look at it from another point of view. Would machine manufacturers subject themselves to huge legal liabilities if there were a shadow of doubt that humidifiers would cause brain damage? Of course not! If there was any credible evidence of actual or potential harm, you can be sure of a class action ...

Re: Newbie Here - 1 month in
As I see it, the #1 problem is the large leaks -- 39% of the night in the chart you posted. When in large leak territory, the machine cannot reliable tell whether or not an apnea really existed (notice the "unclassified apneas"). So before you can get better results and reliable data, tackle the lea...
