I’m using the same nasal device, only change I made was adjusting my DreamStation mask type according to the manual included with the mask, in my case a type X2 (medium size)

He may be referring to the 'sleep-wake junk' of little clear airways - but not true centrals - that often happen when falling asleep or just before waking... and might be aware (dimly) of those. Trouble falling asleep
I started a couple of week with my CPAP dreamstAtion device, pressure 6 min, 15 max, a flex 3, no ramp up. How ever I noticed an immediate increase of episodes that right about to fall asleep feels like I stopped breathing, but this started with the use of the machine, could it be my configuration? ...

A lot of us self-manage *without* doctors or sleep clinics advising us. Most here achieve better results because doctors simply can't (or are disinterested) fine-tune our settings. And no, you're not going to cause yourself harm. Yes, Auto-adjusting is the way to go. Though many feel air-starved on...

The machine will not hurt you...There are various other setting than pressure that can make the device more comfortable for you. What specific machine are you using.
