Re: How I Prevented Mouth-breathing and Mask Leaks and Learned To Love the Bomb

I’ve haven’t tried breathe right strips for several years, they didn’t stick very well at all. Sounds like they’ve improved that issue.

Re: Do I need a different style mask?

Last night I made the following changes based on advice here and watching a number of videos: I used lansinoh cream around my nostrils I used small size pillows I loosened up the strap slightly on my Nuance Pro mask I employed a strap around the hose and anchored it my shirt, so that it would move w...

Re: Do I need a different style mask?

I do very much prefer the idea of the pillows, if I can somehow resolve that. me, too! and the p10 is THE one for me. i understand that what works for me may not work for thee and vice versa. but you may want to try some lansinoh lanolin cream on those pillows. keeps them nice and soft. guards agai...

Re: Do I need a different style mask?

I do very much prefer the idea of the pillows Yes, they were a nice innovation. Do I need to try a new style of mask? Youtube has fitting and adjusting videos on most models of masks. It's recommended that you study three or four videos. Some of the videos are quite good. Also, pay attention to hos...

Do I need a different style mask?

I started out with the airfit p10 nasal pillows. Aside from the whole new CPAP experience common issues, the mask started working for me for short time until the pillows started really irritating my nostrils, with a lot of pain. I was also waking up 2 or 3 times a night and finding the mask had come...

Re: Complete newbie seeking advice

I'm glad to hear you found a mask that feels comfortable. Now let's see whether you have large leaks for extended periods of time with any frequency. I think there's a very decent chance you'll see improvement in your memory as time goes by. You're still in the early weeks of treatment, with comfor...

Re: Complete newbie seeking advice

When I was diagnosed my AHi was 10.5, that has certainly improved.

Re: Complete newbie seeking advice

Hey, congratulations on using Oscar! Yes, you had an hour of leaking that exceeded the machine’s ability to compensate, but let’s see whether that’s a pattern or not. How are you feeling, both during the night and during the day? Thank you! I started out with Air sense p10 pillows, and sleeping got...

Re: Complete newbie seeking advice

I got Oscar installed last night and the SD card had data on it this morning. Seems to all be working correctly. Looks like I still have issues with some leaking.

Re: Did your blood pressure go up?

No, it's not all that common for BP readings to elevate just because of starting cpap alone. Now what might be a factor are the other things that go along with starting cpap which are rather common because of the adjustment process. 1....we wake up often for various reasons (mask comfort, leaks, et...

Re: Did your blood pressure go up?

...my BP would go back to normal after a couple of weeks. I’ve been using it for a week and a half. Your expectation is too short a time period if very high BP or severe category. Took 18 months of slow improvement before I was able to ditch the BP drugs. My BP is under control, it has been for a c...

Mine actually has gone down but I didn't track it at the beginning. And my oxygen level has gone up!
I bet yours will settle after a while.
I am determined to make that happen for me too.

Raise your min. setting to 6 for a couple of days and see how that feels.
I don’t seem to have the option to adjust the pressure unless I’m looking in the wrong place.

I certainly don’t feel like I’ve gotten into flow of things, but I’m determined to make it work.
Your first CPAP pun! You'll be fine.
Yay, happy to contribute :)

Re: Did your blood pressure go up?

I certainly don’t feel like I’ve gotten into flow of things, but I’m determined to make it work. You have a very good machine. Note it in your signature in the user profile. Then, no one will need to ask again. Determination needs OSCAR's help. Learn to use OSCAR. Your AHI and leak level are subopt...
