Sanitizing a used machine?

Having 'fired' my DME supplier and sleep center, I'm going to pick up a used machine to experiment with without the pressure to 'perform' for the insurance company and doctors. How safe is a used machine? I would use a new hose, humidifier tank, and mask(s). Is there a way to sanitize a machine? I w...

Re: Returning equipment (insurance)

Well, they took it back, no hassle. The clerk allowed that 'lots of people bring them back'. Time will tell if there's going to be any fallout with the insurance company. Next week I go to see the pulmonologist to see where we go from here.

Re: Returning equipment (insurance)

I didn't make any progress over the last month, other than to lose a lot of sleep. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results. I meet with a pulmonologist in a few weeks, and we'll go from there. Calls and messages to the prescribing doctor and ...

Re: Have you had a COVID-19 Vaccine or have an appt?

I got the second dose of Moderna, and it hit me a bit today. Brain fog, headache, body ache, and minor chills. Oddly enough, I don't feel sick, though. Kind of hard to explain the difference. If I weren't retired, I could have worked today, but it would have been a long day. I'm hoping it clears up ...

Returning equipment (insurance)

I'm wondering if any of you know what the 'rules' are pertaining to returning CPAP equipment that is covered by insurance, specifically Medicare supplemental? Tuesday will be 30 days, the so-called period for re-fitting, etc. I'm planning to return everything, and don't want to be charged for it. A ...

Re: Another frustrated newbie

After a night off, I tried again. I went back to the original mask I started with, and paid close attention to the problem. I started out with it completely loose, and snugged it up just enough to seal, which it did for a few breaths. Then, it started leaking. More adjustments. Seal, then leak. More...

Re: Another frustrated newbie

I tried the P30 last night. I wanted the P10, but my supplier didn't have one. It seemed to work well, but showed 31% large leakage? My AHI was 16. I was wide awake from 2 AM to 4 AM, when I turned it off, and OSCAR showed apnea during that period. The only time my O2 dropped below 90% was also when...

Re: OT--Needle phobia vs covid control

I don't mind getting a shot at all, but can't stand watching other people get one. Needless to say, watching the news has become uncomfortable. Do they not realize that they are freaking out people, and it's not going to help with getting people to accept the vaccine?

Re: Another frustrated newbie

I took the night off, and slept great for the first time in two weeks. I'm going to try a nasal pillow next. I've got 30 days to try different masks for free.

94% Large Leakage last night. I did sleep a bit better, though.

Re: Another frustrated newbie

Okay, here we go into the search for a mask. Having exhausted (pun intended) the few options my DME provider offers, I'm going to go to an on-line supplier and order various masks until I either succeed or give up. My DME is sending me my prescription, so I can shop around. I'm not sure where to sta...

Re: Another frustrated newbie

I tried a different nasal pillow with the Airfit F30i last night, and got 85% large leakage. The rest of the data is irrelevant.

Re: Another frustrated newbie

Until I can find a mask that fits, I don't think much else will help. I came closer with the F30i, but it is too painful to consider for use every night. The nasal pillow feels more like a nasal anvil. I wake up in pain after a few hours of use. The full mask one I tried simply will not maintain a s...

Re: Another frustrated newbie

Another mask; another fail. I went to the equipment provider, and spent a while trying different masks. I went with one that covers the nose, A ResMed AirTouch F20. It's very comfortable, and worked well in the office. I put it on last night, and all was good for a short while. Then, it started leak...
