Using Resmed mask on Philps Dreamstation.
Hi. I notice that the Mask setting on Philps Dreamstation is marked as numbers 1-5 which correlates the mask of their own brand. I'm currently using a resmed F20 full face mask. Naturely I'm trying to look for the number for the similar Philips made full face mask. However, it seems Philps do not ha...

First 4 nights switching to F20 mask from P10. Review and questions.
Hi. I've been using a p10 mask for a year and until recently decided to try a full face mask. (I'm tired of trying different methods to solve mouth leak/chipmunk chin). So I order a ResMed airfit F20 mask (LARGE size) and try out. The good news is that firstly I don't have claustrophobia and secondl...

learning material for OSCAR date recommendation
hey.
I'm really into the interpretation of the OSCAR data about things like how CA and OA are identified by the software. Is there any comprehensive learning material like books that I can learn from?

Re: refractory chipmunk (5+ types of straps tried)
What a great solution! It’s a bit like the Knightsbridge dual strap: https://dualbandchinstrap.com/https://dualbandchinstrap.com/https://dualbandchinstrap.com/ But the DIY sounds like an even better homegrown fix. Thanks so much for sharing the tip! You are welcome. And another advantage of using a...

Re: refractory chipmunk (5+ types of straps tried)
this post is to tag on to what miss e said right above this. i use a firm foam cervical collar rather than a chin strap as i could never get the chin strap to work. in the u.s., these can be found at a local pharmacy. not sure if that's the case in "asia". if not, search for it on amazon. they help...

Re: refractory chipmunk (5+ types of straps tried)
EPR does help. When the mouth fills with exhaled air, the chipmunk cheeks form. The secret is to train the REAR of your mouth to CLOSE and direct air out the nose. This means that your soft palate, uvula, and the back of your tongue seal together. This is normal when we breathe only through the nos...

refractory chipmunk (5+ types of straps tried)
Hi. I'm curious when and how do chipmunk form when sleeping. The anatomy of our upper respiratory tract seems to make it more likely to form during EXPIRATION instead of INSPIRATION(am I wrong?) So theoretically if I tune down the pressure during expiration (by setting EPR to 3), is it less likely f...

Re: Do I have mouth leak? (w/ detailed treatment log)
It's so weird. We had a party last night. And I end up totally drunk. And for the first time in a year, I forgot to use my CPAP machine. I still had the problem of early waking up at around 5:30 am, only this time I felt very refreshed. (Except for the hangover of course). And I felt great throughou...

Re: Do I have mouth leak? (w/ detailed treatment log)
Congratulations on having a better night! Don't try to think too far into the future; with time, all kinds of routines can become, well, routine. Or not; you'll see. Meanwhile, keep working on training your tongue. Many people here have had good luck with that. Thank you Miss Emerita. Last night I ...

Re: Do I have mouth leak? (w/ detailed treatment log)
Sorry for the wording. I meant the back of my oral cavity. I have an issue with the chipmunk cheek when using CPAP.

Re: Do I have mouth leak? (w/ detailed treatment log)
hank you Pugsy. I tried chin strap last night. It's a home-made one made from one of my ankle straps. I decided not to use tape this time. I do not recall having chipmunk cheek last night. But I do recall occasionally I was waked up and had to open my lips to let the air out. Not surprisingly the O...

Re: Do I have mouth leak? (w/ detailed treatment log)
Chipmunk cheeks can happen even at lower pressures...actually at any pressure but you could certainly try reducing the pressure and see what happens. Bear in mind that when you reduce the pressure then the pressure may not be able to hold the airway open and prevent airway collapses so you may see ...

Re: Do I have mouth leak? (w/ detailed treatment log)
To tame chipmunk cheeks, try positioning your tongue by putting the tip of your tongue behind your front top teeth, letting it spread out to the insides of all your upper teeth, and then giving a little swallow or suck to create a bit of suction. Once your tongue is properly positioned, you should ...

Re: Do I have mouth leak? (w/ detailed treatment log)
I only slept for less than 6 hours for insomnia. I still feel unrested in the morning. Well......only getting less than 6 hours of sleep itself can sure lead to feeling like crap the next day. Simply not enough sleep will do that. Now, it is entirely possible the leaks are a factor in disturbing yo...
