Re: Central Apnea clusters happening despite changing pressure settings
Thanks, I will read it carefully. I was going to decrease my max pressure since my mask leaks at higher pressures and causes me to wake very often. If I find a mask that can handle higher pressures, I will try increasing it. Thanks again. (Max pressure currently at 11).

Re: Central Apnea clusters happening despite changing pressure settings
Currently trying to train myself to sleep for a longer stretch at night. I noticed that my apneas increase as the night goes on (waking often and going back to sleep). It's a work in progress, but looks promising. I raised my epap which helped decrease the amount of hypopneas. I am going to bed at t...

Re: Central Apnea clusters happening despite changing pressure settings
I just spoke with my respiratory therapist and he strongly urged me to keep my current pressures for at least a week to see if there's an improvement. When we've tried higher pressures, it created more problems than it solved. If these current pressures (8.5-11.5) don't improve my apneas, I will com...

Re: Central Apnea clusters happening despite changing pressure settings
Here's the better chart view and another closer look at the last half of the night (wrong order, sorry) . The reason my pressure is so low is because I swallow a painful amount of air, and the higher pressures seem to increase the number of centrals i have even more. But im willing to try again of i...

Re: Central Apnea clusters happening despite changing pressure settings
After looking at my oscar and O2 data from last night and reading your suggestions, it looks like the majority of the O2 drops are due to hypopneas and centrals (some of which are actually hypopneas) especially the last half of the night. It also might be that the repeated waking is contributing to ...

Re: Central Apnea clusters happening despite changing pressure settings
I thought this qualified as a separate post as it has been so long since i last posted. Tomorrow I will remove this post and put it at the end of my previous thread.

Re: New APAP user. High central apneas.....Canada user
Thanks for the advice! I sleep on the couch so I don't roll to my back (but still end up on my back a few times a night). I'll look into a positional device. As for the chinstrap and lower pressure, I still had severe centrals at a max pressure of 7 (then my hypopneas weren't helped). I don't know h...

Re: New APAP user. High central apneas.....Canada user
I'd like to be more comfortable with my machine for the next couple of days. It's a dreamstation autobipap. The settings are ipap 25, epap 4, ps 3-4, biflex off, rise 3. I'm having 2 problems. 1) the ipap is often at 7. This is hard to breathe in. (The pressure doesn't go high enough to counter the ...

Re: New APAP user. High central apneas.....Canada user
I spoke with my sleep dr today. I'm just stunned right now. He said that he doesn't believe that the high number of central apneas are from the APAP or bipap. He said he thinks I need to just use a chinstrap (even though there were not many leaks). He said he's putting me back on an APAP for a coupl...

Re: New APAP user. High central apneas.....Canada user
I'll look into the vent blocking more. Thanks for your help! I can't switch drs. No selection here. I tried changing respiratory therapist. Others said it would only cause more delay. And that I need to be patient.

Re: New APAP user. High central apneas.....Canada user
I don't think I can muster the courage to do that. It sounds scary/dangerous. I got a new full face mask with the bipap machine (airfit f20). Each night I woke up once with the hose disconnected from the mask (airfit f20). I wake up not getting much air through the little hole, with low o2 and gaspi...

Re: New APAP user. High central apneas.....Canada user
I don't have my sleep study results. I just know what my dr told me over the phone. In-lab sleep study. Stretchy bands around my torso. Leads stuck to my head and legs. Thing on my nose. Oximeter on my finger. Camera in my room. Almost exclusively hypopneas. Worse on my back. AHI 72. Waited a month ...

Re: New APAP user. High central apneas.....Canada user
I had mostly hypopneas before I started APAP therapy. Idk if it was central or not (dr didn't mention centrals). So I think the centrals are only happening because of the APAP/bipap machines. But with centrals this high, I can't see them improving in any meaningful way. There's so many, all the time.

Re: New APAP user. High central apneas.....Canada user
I can't afford anything out of pocket. My AHI without the machines is 72. So I'm in a bad situation either way. Thanks for the tip, but I can't get my own machine.
