Re: Reported mask pressure 'capped' to 15.88 cmH20 by OSCAR?

In a vaccum, generally speaking pressure is pressure no matter which location it is sampled at. This isn't a vacuum, and your theory is faulty because that statement is only valid in a static system. A cpap patient circuit is a very dynamic system. I've measured pressure differentials of over 10cmH...

Re: Reported mask pressure 'capped' to 15.88 cmH20 by OSCAR?

Of course it measures mask pressure - the measurement is taken at the machine itself... the air pressure within the hose, and within the machine body where the sensor is, is equal to that within the mask... This is incorrect, the pressure at the mask is NOT equal to the pressure in the mask, unless...

Re: Reported mask pressure 'capped' to 15.88 cmH20 by OSCAR?

As you can see from my picture above, the actual pressure measured at the mask is the exact pressure reported by the machine. In your photo, you are measuring the pressure at the machine. Your photo title, "Pressure taken at mask connection point", is not correct. You are taking the pressure at the...

Re: Reported mask pressure 'capped' to 15.88 cmH20 by OSCAR?

Of course it measures mask pressure - the measurement is taken at the machine itself WTH?? If the measurement is taken at the machine, it's the pressure at the machine. To measure pressure at the mask, a pressure sensor would be needed at the mask. Unless there is some sort of kink in the hose, the...

Re: Reported mask pressure 'capped' to 15.88 cmH20 by OSCAR?

I don't know of any way the cpap will know IF there is an antibacterial filter installed in order to compensate the reading. ResMeds do see page 16 of the manual https://www.respshop.com/manuals/ResMed-AirSense-10-for%20her.pdf also mentioned on page 13 and what it can do to results and what they r...

Re: Reported mask pressure 'capped' to 15.88 cmH20 by OSCAR?

I believe the machine reports pressure, not mask pressure. They are not the same thing. They are the same thing as it's a closed loop system. If I test the output with a manometer it's exactly consistent no matter what level of additional pressure relief I add to the circuit. To clarify, even if wh...

Re: Reported mask pressure 'capped' to 15.88 cmH20 by OSCAR?

Oscar does not actually report the "Max" settings, it reports the 99% value. This way potential extreme outliers are not reported. Pretty certain that's not it in this case, as much time is spent signifincantly over 15.88 - way more than could be considered outliers (sometimes over 30 mins in a nig...

Reported mask pressure 'capped' to 15.88 cmH20 by OSCAR?

Hi all, Just a quick one - my Dreamstation autoSV is set with an EPAP min of 9, ps 3.0 -> 21, yet no matter what happens OSCAR is showing 15.88 as being as high as the 'mask pressure' ever goes - I know it goes higher than that though as the machine itself says it does. If I stop breathing for a len...

Re: Still extremely fatigued on ASV, help?

Hi Vennechris, Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Seems a little like my experience too. Cheers After two sleep studies showing AHI of 34 CA and 1 OA, I was prescribed the Aircurve 10 ASV, EPAP: 4, Min PS: 6, Max PS: 12. After 8 months of consistent ASV usage, 8+ hours per night sleep with mach...

Re: Repeated spo2 plunges with sleep onset....UK user

Cheers - yeah I was going to give that a go.. didn't want to go too high on the EPAP and cause centrals as a result of blowing off too much co2, but I think hypopneas and RERAs are my main issue at the moment so it can't hurt investigating. I'll raise it from 6 to 8 tonight and see what happens, and...
