Re: Renamed: DurtGurl's adventures in therapy
I know you take Cymbalta for a legit reason but you really need to dig deep into the side effects to that medication. It may impact how you sleep and feel once your cpap therapy and your mask issues are resolved. It also could be a factor in your yo-yo situation with exhaustion. Are you taking any ...

Re: Renamed: DurtGurl's adventures in therapy
well, you've pretty much got the answer. i know it's hard to wait for this stuff to take effect, but you have simply GOT to. you also need to post graphs of each change here. and make ONE change at a time. it's really the only way to do it. otherwise you are doing what we call "dial winging" and th...

Re: Renamed: DurtGurl's adventures in therapy
I am suffering and can't find CPAP settings that work for me. I am systematically trying lower to higher pressures, with and without pressure relief, and even flat-line (non-adaptive) CPAP, and nothing seems to help. Taping my mouth keeps away the dry mouth so I do that every night now. However, the...

Re: looks like i have cheyne stokes..
I've been researching similar sessions with my own CPAP therapy and *think* I might have treatment-emergent central sleep apnea which is when centrals form as a reaction to CO2 imbalance caused by CPAP therapy. Mine usually occur at the max pressure setting as if the pressure wants to go higher to c...

Re: Need help with airtouch f20 mask fit
Thank you- I have watched quite a few videos from searching online but they all seem to be reviews rather than addressing problems. I too was having problems with severe leakage with several ResMed masks. I kept trying new ones and when I was on the AirTouch F30 medium, I finally went looking for f...

Re: Review of dental appliance to stop mouth leaks
Hi everyone ... Kermit here. I had forgotten about my post #34 July 16, 2005 recommending the Nosebreathe dental device. I looked up this post when recommending the device to a good friend. http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3807 Been more that 15 years. I would like to update the forum on...

Re: Renamed: DurtGurl's adventures in therapy
There are so many cheap variations of the cervical collar on Amazon... Might you have a recommendation for something comfortable and non-itchy? I would start out with a 3- or 3.5-inch, soft DMI (or similar) brand. Eventually, I moved up to a 4-inch, firm Carex. The latter is more effective for me, ...

Re: Thin face and zero luck with ResMed
I have a thin pillow so I doubt chin tuck due to a fat pillow is an issue. Chin-tuck can happen with the flattest of pillows. Like you, I started out requiring very high pressures. The doc prescribed bilevel, pressures - IPAP 24, EPAP 18. I started wearing a foam cervical collar, and my pressure ru...

Renamed: DurtGurl's adventures in fine-tuning therapy
you adventuress, you! try to make one change at a time and give it a few nights to sink in. i know, i know...you are eager to get this therapy dialed in and who can blame you? but our bodies can be stubborn about changes coming too fast. it can take time to adjust. i think you are doing great...

Re: Thin face and zero luck with ResMed
Now I see you from your notes that you tried the N-30i. Was it too wide for your nose? Yeah, the N-30i leaked at the sides around my nose during the night. I had the starter kit and tried all sizes with the same results. I then went to the F30 and F30i and had side leaks AND a bad skin rash in reac...

Re: Thin face and zero luck with ResMed
I will try leaving all the same but raising the max pressure tonight to 15 or 16 (20 seems like too big a jump) following Okie bipap's advice. Only difference last night from the previous screen grab was setting max pressure set to 17 (I went for a big move). Looks like I maxed out only a few brief...

Re: Thin face and zero luck with ResMed
is it possible for you to stay in one thread, please? kind of hard to keep up with your past. thank you. as to the current post, i agree with what has been stated. youtube for mask fitting videos. increase minimum for better ahi. however, that won't mean much if your leaks keep waking you as you sa...

Re: Thin face and zero luck with ResMed
One question: Are you a "mouth breather" in the daytime? If you breathe through your nose naturally while awake, the mouth breathing could simply be a habit, born out of your apnea. Many people are pushed into a full face mask, even though they could easily use a nasal mask or nasal pillows. Someti...

Re: Thin face and zero luck with ResMed
If you want to try an experiment, set your EPR at 3. This will produce a difference of 3 between your inhale pressure and your exhale pressure. To make sure your exhale pressure stays where it is, you'll need to increase your minimum pressure by 3. So the other part of the experiment would be to re...
