Re: Help evaluating flow rate despite cardioballistic artifacts
This breathing from when I was awake in bed at the start of the night confirms CBA, right? The squiggles when flow is otherwise flat between breaths. I also see some indents at other points in the flow like the first two inhales in the graph so I guess that could be some kind of floppy soft tissue l...

Re: Help evaluating flow rate despite cardioballistic artifacts
Thank you, Nocibur. I don't see anything as dramatic as the flow graph at the top of that site you linked. No sudden flatline palate blocks during expiration. Just bumpy inhales and exhales. I have noticed that higher pressure the last few days made my palate sore. Perhaps it's flopping around and w...

Re: Help evaluating flow rate despite cardioballistic artifacts
Hi Nocibur. I’m not familiar with palatal interference. Would palatal interference change how I approach treatment, or it is just something to note but doesn’t impact settings or treatment?

Re: Help evaluating flow rate despite cardioballistic artifacts
Thank you both. I have high BP and was holding out hope that addressing residual flow limitation would help improve it. I agree that on the whole my CPAP treatment is working well and I’m probably looking for improvement past the point of diminishing returns. I work with data for a living and it has...

Help evaluating flow rate despite cardioballistic artifacts
Hey Everyone, I've been using a Resmed Autoset 10 for the last ~5 years and I'm trying to understand if my pressure and EPR are set properly. I have AHI under 1.5 most nights, low leak, and low flagged flow limits. I also have a really pronounced cardioballistic effect. It goes away during parts of ...

Re: Flow rate bumpy on inhale. Normal?
Reviving this very old thread to ask a follow up question now that I've got a few more years of experience... Are the little dips in the inhale that make the crest look like an "M" most likely cardioballistic just like the squiggels during the exhale, or is that top indicative of a flow limitation o...

Re: Flow limits and sometimes RERAs
Thank you both for the information. Very helpful to keep building my understanding of how all these concepts fit together! I do feel much better this week than before these settings changes. If this is the best I can get for now it’s definitely better than before but I’m definitely open to any ideas...

Flow limits and sometimes RERAs
Hey Everyone, I've been on CPAP for 2+ years and until recently was using a range of 6-8.4 but found that I was getting aerophagia/arousals from pressure jumping up and down as I experienced flow limitation. To try to improve my flow limitations and decrease arousals from pressure swings, last week ...

Interesting. I had never heard of that. Thank you, palerider.

Flow rate bumpy on inhale. Normal?
nov_16_flow_rate_bumps.gif Hello. Are the 2-4 bumps on each of the upward slopes (inhale?) of my flow rate indicative of some obstruction/snore, or are those normal? There's no flow limit reported during the time that I'm zoomed in. I see the bumpy slope on inhale all the time in my data so I'm gue...

Re: Meaning of Flow Rate Shapes
Definitely having fewer arousals with the static pressure and EPR 2. Waking up an hour before I'd like to, but that could just be my body refusing to acknowledge daylight savings. Aerophagia still a problem so I might try lowering pressure a bit but keeping it static. I might also try my chinstrap o...

Re: Meaning of Flow Rate Shapes
nov_8_cpap_resized.jpg Having EPR at 2 felt much better than 3. Mask didn't feel like an unstable balloon. I was able to sleep with fewer arousals (I think) but I did still wake up earlier than desired and with aerophagia. As far as I can tell nearly all of the CAs were actual central apneas, which...

Re: Meaning of Flow Rate Shapes
nov_7_cpap.jpg Last night was a little rough. The EPR of 3 felt very dramatic and might have been too much for me. It felt like my nasal cushion was ballooning in and out from the rapid pressure change between inhale and exhale. I also woke up with pretty bad aerophagia. It's possible that the aero...

Re: Meaning of Flow Rate Shapes
Thank you so much for all the detail in your reply. I really appreciate it. I've been using CPAP for around 2.5 years and almost always have my AHI under 1.5 with treatment. I had only 5 complex apneas an hour during my sleep study but I didn't sleep much so I don't know how accurate that count is. ...

Re: Meaning of Flow Rate Shapes
Thank you Miss Emerita! Here is a stretch of waxing and waning breathing zoomed in with those changes you requested. I should note that this period was while I was using the f30i FFM, which is not my normal mask. A little later that night I ended up taking it off and switching back to my normal Drea...
