Re: Who can write an Rx
Any doc with a license can write a prescription, but it may not be legal to fill. The guiding principal is that any practiotioner in the course of his/her practice may write for a bona fide patient. This gets a bit fuzzy. If a dentist treats a patient for apnea, then he may writa a legal RX. I was i...

Re: Changes To CPAP.com Prescription Policy
SWS, I am still not convinced. Color moi stubborn. Many companies will refer to the RX requirement and DME will also. Maybe some recent statutes have clarified this but I am not aware of any. I once called the FDA and the person I spoke to assured me a RX was required, but after I told him to quote ...

Re: CPAP Prescription
The answer quoted is further proof that its author does not know the law. It states that a prescription does not expire which is not according to drug laws. All rx in the US expire after one year. Controled subsatnces are 6 months. My recent dme in Jax said I needed a new Rx every year and I told he...

Re: Changes To CPAP.com Prescription Policy
Lots of confusion on this. The requirements, according to the labels on both a PAP and mask, require an ORDER. This has been construed as a presription. Pharmacies are licensed to fill a pRESCRIPTIOIN, not a DME. They fill ORDERS. One day I hope someone will find and post the statute that requires a...

Benadryl and sleep- not good
According to this article, the use of Benadryl containing sleep aids in the elderly may have very harmful effects.
This is particularly worsened with regular, rather than occasional usage.

Re: CPAP lifespan?
How long does a marriage last?
How long does a car last?
How long is a lifetime?
No clear answers can be determined from individual outcomes.
And why did you pay more than 1500.00 for ANY xPAP?
They are much cheaper than this if you look anyplace other than your DME.

Re: Is prescription necessary to order equipment?
I wish someone would provide the regulation that requires a prescription. I have searched for this and am unable to come up with it. A PRESCRIPTION IS NOT THE SAME AS AN ORDER. Companies have adopted a POLICY to require a PRESCRIIPTIN, but cannot document it. This will NEVER stop those from blindly ...

Re: Allergy to CPAP machine
It is amazing and amusing to see many folks posting on the thing PAP may cause. It seems some try to connect anything that happens to them with the PAP. Many PAP users have lots of things go wrong That are totally unrelated to their PAP usage. Some things may be causal, many are coincidental. But th...

Re: Why a Prescription for XPap Machine?
This urban legend should be on snopes. Why do you not simply read the package that PAPa come in or the accessories. They do NOT require a prescription!!! They require an ORDER. There is a big difference in an ORDER and a Prescription. DME'sw are licended to sell goods, pharmacies are licensed to dis...

I have made about a million postings or replies to various forums(fora). It is rare that I do not revies them later and come up with another million thisgs I should have said differently. Add a word. delete a word. notice I did not do a proper spell check. Truly regret something I said. The replies ...

Re: cleaning hoses
Right on schedule, You are the millionth person to ask about cleaning hoses etc. You will get many suggestions, some very detailed and elegant solutions to a non problem. But nobody ever asks if cleaning is necessary and why. Last week I went to the DME for a new Breeze. She asked how often I cleane...

Re: Best way to deal with xPAP when going to Bathroom??
The answer to this depends on what type mask a person uses. It is a prblem with the old type head gear I used- all those straps and velcro. Now that I use a breeze- past 11+ years, it is very simple to simply reach to the back and flip it off and then simply pull it back on when I return. I usually ...

Re: Viet Nam Vets and Agent Orange
I am curious as to who determined the agent orange was connected to your apnea.
How much has your weight changed since then and which do you think is the more likely cause?
I know a Nam vet who blames all the problems in his life on agent orange.
I remain a skeptic.

There is no doubt in my mind or my wifes. I have been usineg the Breeze for 11+ years and mine are definitely much larger. If you see the pix of the jungle tribe peope who stretch their lips and ears, there is no dount that constant pressure aghainst tissue will expand it. Simple physics. It is not ...

Re: confused over cpap prescription- opinion please ?
Windflier, Not to throw shoes, but you are fortunate to have a machine that you are pleased with. Many, if not most pepple on CPAP will do fine IF THE PRESSURE IS CORRECT. APAP has very definit advantages and allows users to regularly check their sleep architecture. They can then adjust it to make i...
