I lost 70 lbs. Do I need my machine?
So I started using an Aircurve 10 VAuto nearly two years ago. I have lost 70 lbs and I have gotten myself into much better shape at the age of 63. My apnea numbers were recently around 3 per hour with the machine. I struggled to get it below ten till a few months ago when it just started dropping. P...

Fine tuning with an Resmed Aircurve ASV
Well I have been nearly two years on my journey to get better numbers in my sleep. I used a Resmed Aircurve till about two weeks ago. I went from about 15 events per night with 30-45 minutes in apnea down to about 10 events most nights but 10-20 minutes in apnea. Most events were obstructive apnea. ...

Re: Oximeter Oscar Screenshot
attempting to see the specific relationship between Obstructive Apnea events and how those events impact oxygen levels and heart rate within those event periods. Events can make oxygen levels go down and heart rate go up. Oh, wait, you already knew that. Yes I did. I just want to see what it looks ...

Oximeter Oscar Screenshot
I have searched to try to find Oscar screenshots that include "Flow Rate", imported O2 Levels and Heart rate data. I am attempting to see the specific relationship between Obstructive Apnea events and how those events impact oxygen levels and heart rate within those event periods. Can anyone point m...

Re: Apnea and other events negative actions
I'd offer two amendments. One is that harm is caused by adrenaline surges that accompany the body's effort to restart breathing after an obstructive apnea. More here: https://scopeblog.stanford.edu/2013/07/25/why-untreated-sleep-apnea-may-cause-more-harm-to-your-health-than-feeling-fatigued/ The ot...

Apnea and other events negative actions
I understand apnea and other events can ultimately cause a number of negative results that are detrimental to health. Am I correct is saying; In broad terms, the negative physical effects events cause are (1) lower oxygen levels, and the (2) shock to the heart and therefore other organs by the jolti...

Ti Max, Ti Min, Trigger and Cycle
Is there a place within the Sleepyhead software where I can look up what my Ti Max, Ti Min, Trigger and Cycle were set at before I started making adjustments? I find pretty much every setting that can be changed in the Machine settings other than Ti Max, Ti Min, Trigger and Cycle.
Thank you! Jeff

Airway collapse location?
Does the airway typically close in only one location? Or can mouth breathing vs. nose breathing cause an airway collapse in different locations?

Re: Respiatory rate increase
Get your provider/clinical manual for your machine and look at potentially experimenting with the Ti min and Ti max as well as trigger settings to see if it will do what you want. Those are the only settings that "might" and I stress the "might" part ....do what you want. Don't ask me which one or ...

Re: Respiatory rate increase
I'll try one more time. I have only used one machine. I have been using CPAP or a Resmed Aircurve 10 for the past eight months. I know folks are here mostly to help. That is a very good thing. I really appreciate it. :-) But MY question is about the respiratory rate. I know my AHIs are too high. I a...

Respiatory rate increase
I have been using CPAP or a Resmed Aircurve 10 for the past eight months. From the very first I could tell my respiration rate was faster on the machine. I think this is part of what has felt uncomfortable for me using it. My AHI from the sleep study was 72. I am currently running between 6 and 9. B...

Re: Shoulder pain at high pressure
I feel like my breathing is very different from breathing without the machine in that normal breathing does not require that I entirely fill my lungs on inhaling. When a CPAP user falls asleep, the autonomic nervous system takes control of breathing. The user breathes gently and rhythmically. It's ...
