Re: Lincare unethical?

If there lips are moving they are lying. If it is midnight and a DME tells you it is dark outside, go outside and look for yourself. I doubt Medicare can keep all the DME complaints in a single room. Maybe an airplane hanger. Your welcome to file a complaint. but don't hold your breath waiting for ...

Lincare unethical?

Hello all, I have a situation and would love to get your advice. Back in July 2020 i started with CPAP and got my machine from Lincare. Since it was during the height of COVID, a guy named Dave brought the machine to my car, gave me some real quick instructions and wished me good luck. Before I left...

Re: Doctor percribed a med but im AFRAID to take it.

You may want to look into hydroxyzine. I wonder if anyone here has any feedback on that. It's an antihistamine. Works well for anxiety and sleep when taken before bedtime. I do agree with Chicago Granny that two nights of bad sleep does not warrant sleeping pills! Address the possible issues with go...

Re: Another frustrated newbie

Please please do not give up. I am fairly new (CPAP July 2020) and I will tell you that it took MONTHS for everything to fall into place. This forum has helped me an incredible amount. I had terrible mask problems at the beginning. I guarantee there will be one that works for you. I would recommend ...

Re: Have you had a COVID-19 Vaccine or have an appt?

I had my first shot (Pfizer) just this past Thursday and my second is scheduled for Feb 10.
Other than a sore arm for ~12 hours it was a breeze!

Re: Would I benefit from a CPAP?

I would absolutely make time in your schedule to go through with the sleep study. That is the only way to tell what is going on and if CPAP therapy is needed. Of course depression and anxiety could be contributing to poor sleep. Why are you trying to get off your meds? If you need them for your ment...

Right on Pugsy, totally agree. On a similar note, after exhausting other options, I was started on Lexapro 10mg per day about two months ago. Also an SSRI. I would say without any doubt it has helped my sleep remarkably!

Re: Low AHI but no relief, ready to give it another go

10 hours of sleep per night is way too much for an adult. Studies show the sweet spot to be 7.5 hours. Too much sleep is as harmful as too little. Could your depression be causing you to sleep excessively? Can you try setting an alarm that works wake you after 7.5 hours of actual sleep and see how y...

Re: Tricked out CPAP drawers (confessions of a sleep obsessive after 14 ½ years of using CPAP).

Hoarding? I held onto my vinyl record collection through all the years of CDs, MP3s, iPods, streaming, etc. I got rid of my turntable but kept the records in bins in a back room of my office. I recently went out and bought a really nice turntable, hooked it up to my system and am enjoying all of my ...

Re: Are oral appliances worth the thousands of dollars?

My Experience With MAD, Ch. 2: * The dentist charged $1800 for replacement MAD but health insurance only covered $400. Could have bought at least two CPAP machines and plenty of supplies for the out of pocket $1400. * After failing CPAP in 2015, my pulmonologist at the time recommended her, so assu...

HOLY SH*T!!! I want to meet you in real life one day! I absolutely LOVE this.
The only thing I would do is get rid of the junk you will likely never use again (old masks and such).
Or at least offload them to another area like a back closet!
This post made my day!!! Did I say I love it? :P

Re: Are oral appliances worth the thousands of dollars?

Boxofrain, if you had to go without CPAP for a week or a month, e.g. because of a massive power outage or because you are somewhere where there isn't power, would you use an oral appliance or go without treatment? My current and longtime answer is that I'd rather use the oral appliance in a pinch t...

Re: Are oral appliances worth the thousands of dollars?

Zonker, thanks for that. That’s pretty much what I said in an earlier reply in this thread. I am a retired dentist. I have used both. There’s no question in my mind that the CPAP is far superior. I don’t care what any studies may say or what anybody says anecdotally. The MAD will screw up your bite,...

Re: Are oral appliances worth the thousands of dollars?

One thing I will add to this thread that my dental friends would NOT like to see. Many dentists these days take a "weekend course" at a hotel to learn how to treat OSA because it's sold by some companies as a wonderful "profit center." Not all, but many of these dentists that do this have "slow" pra...
