Re: Avg AHI <1 to 2.5 in a year
Central apneas during the sleep-wake transition are completely normal. For example, if you pass out and stay asleep for 7 hours straight, your AHI may be 2.0, but if you had a restless night due to insomnia and kept waking up and falling asleep, your AHI could even be like 6.0 or something. Mostly c...

Re: CPAP users under the age of 30: where you at?
What a great thread. I’m glad to help facilitate all of this if it brings comfort to many. I was so upset when I was diagnosed because I was confused and hated using the CPAP. Insomnia etc. I turned to this page for support.

Re: Any tips for comfort settings?
Honestly I was wondering why I kept waking up repeatedly throughout the night. Maybe it was the standard/soft issue. I’ll see how it goes the next few days

Any tips for comfort settings?
Hello everyone. So I started my CPAP journey in the end of summer. I went from pretty much having constant insomnia to finally being able to regularly sleep. I noticed that since I gained about 10 lbs, I had a slightly more elevated AHI. It was about 3-4, mostly obstructive apnea. I was on setting 1...

Re: Polysomnography
I tend to be a light sleeper, have low tolerance for pain, noise, etc. and because of that, beginning CPAP sucked. Kept taking the mask off, felt like I was suffocating, felt depressed, was extremely tired etc. I’m getting to the point now where I’m not perfect, but it’s getting better. Last night I...

Re: Polysomnography
Thanks. It also seems that the longer I’ve been on CPAP the less of these centrals I’m having. When I started CPAP, I think my central apnea index was around 3. Now it’s rarely above 1.0 (I had a weird night where I had insomnia and kept waking up and falling asleep and the CA was like 6). But yeah,...

Re: Polysomnography
Here’s an update (I only received official results from the sleep specialist a couple weeks ago!): The doctor says I have severe obstructive sleep apnea (AHI 50). Said it’s the worst on my back, slightly better on my left side, and much better on my right side (but still considered moderate if on my...

Re: CPAP users under the age of 30: where you at?
Just wanted to thank all of you for your replies. It really does help. I felt quite isolated when I was diagnosed because I know almost nobody who has sleep apnea. Knowing there’s people who also don’t fit the typical age/demographic definitely helps.

Re: CPAP users under the age of 30: where you at?
Thanks Chunkyfrog! Yes, I just turned 28 a couple months ago, but I honestly think I’ve had it since my early 20s. Why? Because I remember going to house parties and spending the night and I’ve had many people make comments the next morning such as “you make funny noises while you sleep man,” “you s...

CPAP users under the age of 30: where you at?
Hey everyone. Was hoping to hear from your experiences if you are someone 30 or younger. I was diagnosed at the age of 27, severe sleep apnea. I’m not really overweight but have some fat on my neck etc. it looks like it runs in my family as well (brother just diagnosed and he’s 2 years younger than ...

Does mouth leak get better over time?
Hello everyone, I started my CPAP journey this summer. Started with nasal pillows. Couldn't tolerate trying to breathe through my nose all night and had bad mouth leaks as well, so I switched to a full face mask. It's been several months now. I've gone from not being able to sleep at all with CPAP (...

Re: How to make sense of this data
Thanks for the reply. I only recently learned about the ‘essentials’ function on the device so was playing around with it to see more detailed information. What’s probably happening is that as I just fall asleep or awake I’m having a cluster of them, then maybe my breathing stabilizes shortly after ...

How to make sense of this data
Hi everyone. I have some questions about my CPAP data with regards to central apneas. The last few days I’ve been working really late so I haven’t been maintaining a proper sleep schedule (mostly by my own choice unfortunately). I ended up going to bed last night really late and stayed on my phone i...

Re: AHI on MyAir App?
Are you guys serious? I just opened up that menu after getting home. I had NO idea this was even a thing! Wow. Thank you so much for all your help. This satisfies my need of not “obsessing” over technical OSCAR data but still getting a better overview of my stuff. Attached picture for reference. I’v...

Re: AHI on MyAir App?
Thanks. I think the CPAP place printed out my average monthly report or something and the central apnea index was like 2.5 and the obstructive index was maybe 0.8.
Also I had no idea of the essential vs plus, thanks!
