Re: New APAP user (UARS) some questions
Do PS-induced centrals usually settle down then? Say if one goes too high with PS and gets centrals, is it a good idea to give it a few days to see if centrals go away? I wouldn't continue using a too high PS while getting a truckload of centrals because there is zero guarantee they will just magic...

Those clusters don't really look like REM, do they? Possibly he can video tape himself at night to see what those clusters correspond to?

Re: New APAP user (UARS) some questions
I was going up very slowly from 3, .2 cm at a time, and when I got to 5, the centrals and the aerophagia just wouldn't settle down. So I backed off to 4.8, where both are OK. Shorter answer: trial and error! Do PS-induced centrals usually settle down then? Say if one goes too high with PS and gets ...

Re: New APAP user (UARS) some questions
My own exhale pressure is 5; I don't need anything higher to address obstructive events. My pressure support is 4.8, yielding inhale pressure of 9.8; that boost has done a great job on FLs. One piece of terminology that can be a little confusing: EPR is subtracted from (inhale) pressure, and pressu...

Semi-OT: Dry mouth while sleeping
My question is sleep-related, but not about CPAP, hence semi-OT:) Other than mouth breathing, what are some reasons for dry mouth after sleep? I had this problem before the CPAP. I asked my partner multiple times to make sure I'm not mouth breathing, and I tried mouth taping just in case, it's defin...

Re: New APAP user (UARS) some questions
EPR (expiratory pressure relief) can be effective in reducing FLs. To get the full benefit of your EPR setting of 3, you need to reset your minimum to at least 7. The lowest pressure the machine delivers is 4, so with a minimum of 7, you'll always be getting EPR of 3. Does EPAP (on Vauto) affect fl...

Re: Distilled water
No slimy film yet, I'm hoping it won't appear as the water jug remains open. not sure what this sentence means. why would you not put the cap back on the distilled water after use? haha, no, obviously I'm going to put the cap back on every time. By opened I mean no longer sealed. For w/e reason I a...

Re: Distilled water
At the beginning, I was just using filtered tap water (we have very soft city water). Sometimes I would notice a little bit of slimy film when cleaning the container before refilling it (gross!), so I started boiling the water before use. After a while, the process of boiling and cooling the water e...

Distilled water
How do you store distilled water? Once you open it, does it need to go into the fridge? If I buy a big jug of distilled water, leave it on the shelf, and use it over a month or so, would it become stale or contaminated in any way? I'm thinking bacteria or mold spores from the air? Never used distill...

Re: Inhaling much faster with VAUTO. Why?
This is interesting to me. I switched from a ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset to a ResMed VAuto Aircurve and got very different numbers for inhalation and exhalation times, with the VAuto showing shorter inhalations and longer exhalations. I have cardioballistic artifacts in my flow rate, meaning that my...

Re: Apneas after a sigh
Remember the machine only measures air flow....it has no way to know sleep or awake status. It can and will react to awake flagged stuff like OAs and hyponeas just like it reacts when we are asleep because it doesn't know anything different to do. So when it flags an OA even if it is an awake post ...

Re: Coughing after eating...
Last night I lowered my pressure to minimum 14 - maximum 20 from 15-20, with EPR of 2. I have the humidity set at 6 with hose temp of 84 (this may seem high to some but I like high humidity). I feel really good at this pressure but I have noticed that I will cough after I eat, I am not sure if this...

Re: Inhaling much faster with VAUTO. Why?
palerider seems to be right, it must be just a difference in reporting b/w two machines. I compared flow rate graphs and they look similar

The bigger half of the events look like these
Again, I understand that some events like this is normal, but I seem to be doing it all night long.
