Bipap Auto or Bipap ASV

I have been using a AirCurve10 ASV machine for 5 years and I think it is about time to replace it. I don't have many OSA events, in fact, I often don't have any just some unclassified apneas and some central apneas. Mostly, I have Central apneas and when i bought the ASV machine I was having a lot o...

Re: Settings for a new Resmed ASV

I almost always have that problem at the first of the night. I have been adding supplemental oxygen for the first hour of the night to overcome the OAs. That way, my oxygen stays above 90. I am hoping with the new ASV I can eliminate that. I screwed up last night and did not have the VPAP set to aut...

Settings for a new Resmed ASV

Hello Again, I just received a Resmed AirCurve ASV VPAP. I have been using for the past month a Resmed S10 APAP with settings of Min 4 and Max 10.4 - low pressure to attempt to control the Centrals. I am attaching a photo of my stats from last night - fairly typical but sometimes a little lower. The...

Re: Number of Events and AHI

These answers satisfy my questions. I will be getting a new machine soon that will hopefully treat the complexity in my particular situation. At that time, I will need some help. As I said, it may seem elemental as a question but now I understand clearly how the AHI is determined and why and the goa...

Re: Number of Events and AHI

No, I was not asking for help on my particular problem. What I discern from the answers is that when one does a sleep study, in order to determine the number of events they do not use pressure to get a preliminary reading so they know how serious the apnea is. And then, I suspect they gradually incr...

Number of Events and AHI

I have a fairly elemental question - I least I think it is. The goal of cpap tx seems to be get to the lowest AHI as is possible. If I have an AHI of 19 on night one and an AHI of 3 on night two does that mean that on night one the cpap was not able to correct enough events that there were still sev...

Re: Central Apneas and Exhale Relief

I don't know the data on my heart but I have three stents but no restrictions on activity, diet, etc, etc. Not a complete recovery since there is some dead tissue in one small area. So, given that information I may be a good candidate for the ASV machine. Getting one will be no problem. Thanks for l...

Re: Central Apneas and Exhale Relief

OK..The one is easy to do but getting to a lower altitude is not in the cards. It will take awhile to gather enough data to make an educated shot at seeing if the Cannabis is causal in anyway. In the meantime, I am going to do some research on the ASV machines. One thing I have read is that for pati...

Re: Central Apneas and Exhale Relief

Pugsy, I have been monitoring the O2 for a month now since I got the new ResMed APAP. Here is a typical one from last night. I am actually feeling pretty good most of these days since I got the ResMed. But the high number of central's has me concerned. Interestingly, cannabis has been approved in ou...

Re: Central Apneas and Exhale Relief

Thank you Pugsy. No, I was asleep during the entire night except for awake periods to pee that are shown on the chart. I do not have a sleep doc right now and am looking for one but the choices are limited here. The sleep study I did many years ago I was only able to sleep about an hour or two - jus...

Re: Central Apneas and Exhale Relief

Thank you for the reply. Here is my chart from last night I lowered the pressure to 11 to see what would happen. I live at 4500 ft in New Mexico. I take several medications. I will be 82 later this month. I am not overweight - in fact, just the opposite. Aspirin – 81 mg daily AM Atorvastatin – 20 mg...

Central Apneas and Exhale Relief

Hello Again, I have been a CPAP user since 1998 but not always compliant and a member of this board probably close to that long under various email address and user names (I have so much trouble with login from time to time) . I have recently been back using on a regular basis for about 6 months now...
