Is tape not working for you, to keep the mouth closed?

Depending on the mouthguard, it can take valuable tongue space in your mouth, forcing it back into your throat, and, possibly, causing more apneas. So just make sure it doesn't cause problems.

If you haven't already, you might try changing the trigger setting to high or very high. I and others have found that this setting can mitigate reported CAs.
