Re: Fellow Aussies - Philips Dreamstation refund

We even miss out on some consumer products due to company being worried about warranty claims so I certainly agree that it comes at a price. Considering I am about to get $1600 bucks back for my DreamStation, I am happy to paid that little extra in the first place. And you're right about 'free' heal...

Fellow Aussies - Philips Dreamstation refund

For my fellow Aussie on here - As we have awesome consumer protection laws down here, I reached out to the store where I purchased my Philips Dreamstation about 18 months ago to see what could be done. They explained that if I purchased a replacement unit from their store and returned my Philips, th...

Re: Air Sense 10 issues (former Dreamstation user)

Switched to the Air Sense last week (former DS user also) and found that I had to up my pressure settings as I was not getting enough air.
On the Dreamstation I had my low set to 10 and on the Air sense I have it set to 12.

Re: New user - Steep learning curve

Funny thing - exercise is definitely a factor. On the days I put in maximum effort (bad Deadpool reference) I am seeing lower API numbers. Bumping it to 12 minimum certainly made a difference also. Exercised for an hour Thursday 210520.PNG Same again Friday 220520.PNG Took a day off on Saturday 2305...

Re: New user - Steep learning curve

Cheers Chris. Will bump it a little and see what happens. I have no idea what was different on the 18th. I know I did a bit more exercise than normal on that day so when I went to sleep, I passed straight out. Wouldn't have thought it would make that much of a difference but will certainly try doing...

Re: New user - Steep learning curve

If you've been comfortable, not getting any aerophagia, minimal CA's, why not try moving your minimum pressure up plus 1cm? Then show us a couple nights' graphs? Still going strong and no symptoms of aerophagia. Exercising every couple of days now because I have the energy which seems to be improvi...

Re: New user - Steep learning curve

Why not keep it there for a few days? Get an average? Average over the past week with the suggested settings was an API of 2.077 with 4 of the 7 nights closer to 1.5. Lowest usage on one night was 3.7 hours and all other nights were over 6 hours. Snoring has gone down to below 2 for all but one nig...

Re: First night on DreamStation

G'day sa1ty, I am in my 3rd week of using a DreamStation and had very similar experiences to begin with, but now I'm sleeping right through. Think it just takes a bit of time for the mind and body to settle to the crazy concept of sleeping and breathing :D but considering you did an 8hr stint on you...

Okay, what on earth is "a visit from the black dog"? This is Aussie slang I have never heard. :)
Visit from the Black dog is a slang term for depression. Hello darkness, my ol' mate. :D

Re: What Triggered Your Need for CPAP?

I have won the award for most unpopular house guest all my adult life with a snore so loud that I began handing out earplugs to all other occupants wherever I stayed. My beloved begged me to get a sleep study around 10 years ago which confirmed that I had apnea, but unfortunately, one of our childre...

Re: New user - Steep learning curve

Must admit I am sleeping on my back more than usual from what the mistress of finance tells me, but I always was a heavy snorer. Will try to sleep on my side for the next few nights and see how it goes. As to the pressure setting, the Doc told me to have the high pressure setting at 15 and the first...

New user - Steep learning curve

Hi to all - Quick thanks to all for their info and input on this forum. I have been a long time lurker and cannot overstate how much help it has been for me on the lead up and beginning of my CPAP adventure. I was diagnosed with obstructive apnea many years ago but being a typical bloke, didn't do a...
