Re: What causes spontaneous arousals?
Thanks for the reply. I don't have any pains at night that keep me awake. I typically sleep through the night, besides one or two bathroom trips and a few tosses and turns. All the "sleep hygiene" guidelines have never really worked for me. The majority of these I do regularly, and others I've tried...

What causes spontaneous arousals?
Hi all, I'm not sure where to get info about this topic but I have posted on this forum before so I decided to get some more opinions. I'm officially a CPAP/BiPAP dropout. After using different machines, trying multiple masks, adjusting pressures, etc. it never made any difference to how I felt even...

Re: New to BiPAP/Needing some assistance
-The biggest concern I have is with my inhale/exhale times. Which is why I argued *AGAINST* having the IE times shown in anything but expert mode, because people that don't know anything about it think it's some sort of a problem. It's not. this doesn't seem normal to me What would 'seem" normal? b...

Re: New to BiPAP/Needing some assistance
Actually your I:E ratios are within a normal range. https://derangedphysiology.com/main/cicm-primary-exam/required-reading/respiratory-system/Chapter%20539/inspiratory-pause-ie-ratio-and I have a bilevel machine and I just checked and my Expiratory time is a little bit higher than yours on average ...

New to BiPAP/Needing some assistance
Hi all, I was given a BiPAP a few days ago after zero progress was made on a CPAP (actually - CPAP made me feel worse). I've only used the new machine a couple days but so far not much progress, however I don't feel as bad as I did using the CPAP. I've attached some data for review..let me know if t...

Re: CPAP vs BIPAP/CO2 issue?
I struggled like heck with a cpap and my sleep quality went down, not up - I was waking up a lot because I could not breath well. Breathing out was difficult, even when I was awake, even at a middle setting. A bi-pap made a huge difference. Then being able to set a longer inhale time and a bigger p...

Re: CPAP vs BIPAP/CO2 issue?
Carbon dioxide is vented out tiny holes in the mask. The output of these vents was rigorously tested in labs before any mask can be offered to the public. It is not a problem. Your malaise is likely to be caused by other factors. If you fail to use your cpap EVERY time you sleep, you can expect pro...

CPAP vs BIPAP/CO2 issue?
Hi all, I'm wondering what experiences people have on BIPAP vs regular CPAP? I've had a rough time with APAP/CPAP (see my previous threads) and I am currently not using my machine due to it making me feel WORSE. All my data looks good according to my doc and OSCAR (low leaks, AHI normally around 1, ...

Re: CPAP makes me feel worse? (Feel better without CPAP)
Your chart looks generally very good: no snores, negligible leaks and flow limitations, no big pressure swings, few obstructive events, good AHI overall. Central apneas predominate. Try taking a look at this thread from 2016: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t113409/Sleep-Wake-Junk-with-CAs--Wavef...

Re: CPAP makes me feel worse? (Feel better without CPAP)
Hello, Jake. It's pretty common to feel worse with the new experience (mask, pressure, hose, noise), and everyone adapts at their own pace. There's the occasional person who wakes up fresh and raring to go after their first night, but for most of us, the early experience is difficult, and then impr...

Re: CPAP makes me feel worse? (Feel better without CPAP)
Are you just having apnea symptoms or others? Fatigue, sleepiness, fuzzy-headed, difficulty concentrating, anxiety/depression (brought on by the sleep problems), mild headaches, pretty standard apnea symptoms. I understand depression and mood issues can cause fatigue and I'm being treated for that ...

Re: CPAP makes me feel worse? (Feel better without CPAP)
Are you sure it's the cpap making you feel worse? Seriously, you could have some other coincidental condition and/or be taking certain meds that interfere one way or another with sleep and/or a 'hangover' effect. etc. etc. When's the last time you were checked for other things with labs, etc? Not e...

CPAP makes me feel worse? (Feel better without CPAP)
Hi folks, First post here but I've read a few threads that have come up via Google searches. I've been using APAP for about a month now and I've noticed I feel noticeably worse with it. I decided to go without it last night to see what would happen and while I don't feel good per se, I feel less bad...
