Re: Some success at long last!

After experiencing 7 days of AHI under 1.5, I had a not-so-successful night last night (AHI 2.64). I had raised the Max pressure up to 16 to see if it would control the UA's when I roll over onto my back during the night. I also had raised my Min pressure from 8.5 to 10, then to 11, for two reasons:...

The scale is too broad on the MV chart. Change the scale on the y-axis to something like 0 - 20. The line will look very different.
Thanks, I hadn't realized I could change the y-axis, but now I can, and the graph is more useful to me.

Re: Some success at long last!

I did raise the max pressure to 16, but it was not necessary since the pressure never got higher than 10, which is good. No back sleeping! My question is about the rapid breathing during the final 45 minutes or so. I woke up with my heart beating faster than normal, but my Sleeptracker app showed th...

Re: Some success at long last!

So I raised the max pressure on my PR REMstar Auto A-Flex to 14 last night... couldn't bring myself to go higher yet. Here is the result. Screen Shot 2020-06-11 at 2.39.15 PM.png Woke up when the pressure was flat-lining at 14. Obviously not high enough to solve my back-sleeping OSA. I turned the ma...

Re: Some success at long last!

The 04:00 to approx 5:00 ugly on last night's report....you needed more pressure than the machine could deliver due to the max limit of 12. It wanted to go higher to prevent the apnea events. My best guess is you were probably on your back during that time and maybe in REM stage sleep. Any special ...

Re: Some success at long last!

Those saw tooth pressure spikes are nothing more than the auto adjusting algorithm checking things out. Ignore them. The more you see them it usually means the better you are sleeping. They are called pressure probes and they aren't really going up as fast as they look like and they aren't in respo...

Re: Cpap and teeth infection

My dentist (who suffers from sleep apnea himself) told me that dry mouth due to mouth breathing during CPAP treatment can definitely cause tooth decay. I had complained about dry mouth during CPAP use, and he warned me to take this risk of tooth decay seriously. We regularly talk about sleep apnea a...

Re: Some success at long last!

Sunday night I had my best night ever based on AHI score for the night 0.75! I had recently changed my A-Flex setting from 3 to 1. I am very pleased with this result, but have a question about the regular series of pressure spikes. I can't see that they are related to anything except very tiny bumps...

Re: Some success at long last!

When we look at the early charts, it's apparent that most of your apneas were coming in clusters, even with the pressure maxxed out. This is often a sign of positional apnea - especially when your chin drops down to your chest and puts stress on the windpipe. If you were trying to prop yourself up ...

Re: Some success at long last!

Using a foam cervical collar while sleeping on my back is as effective as sleeping on my side. It's something you might want to consider. The collar holds the head in the best position for airway patency and prevents jaw drop. Thanks, this is very timely advice. The last two days when I have had th...

Re: Some success at long last!

Thanks to all for your comments and advice. As to the dogs, I can tell you that I would be the one sleeping out in the hallway before the dogs would :D The dogs sleep on the bed... that's the way it has always been, and will always be. I have thought seriously about sleeping in the guest bedroom to ...

Some success at long last!

First time poster, but not a CPAP newbie exactly. I am 71 yrs old, started using CPAP in 2015 but really struggled to handle the pressure my doctor wanted me to use (15) to get my AHI low enough. I would wake up fighting the machine to breathe or have massive leaks. I gave up in 2016. Fast forward t...
