First month results

I have been using and APAP system (ResMed Autoset Spirit with ResMed Swift mask) for about 5 weeks. For the first three and half weeks I felt so much better – I felt refreshed in the morning, wasn't tired during the day, wasn't taking naps, etc. For the last 10 days or so I have noticed that, while ...

Re: Weight question

I'm 5"8 and weight ranges from 215-250lbs
My ENT doctor told me that I would have sleep apnea even without the extra weight. Don't get me wrong, the extra weight makes it much worse but weight isn't the only factor.

Re: Mask Issues

Hockeydad, It appears the design of the hose connection could be a problem for me. Any side sleepers out there successfully using the Swift ? Thanks. Guest - I sleep on my side almost exclusively (occasionally I sleep on my stomach). I use the Swift and the only problem I have had is that on some n...

I use the Swift and love it. I can sleep in pretty much any position and it will not leak. I am not a particularly restless sleeper but I do switch from side to side and occasionally sleep on my stomach.

Linda - Much snipping For even if the doctor asked how you were doing, you might not have offered the symptoms. Did you have the severe exhaustion and did that exhaustion affect parts of your life in new ways? In my case the exhaustion did, enough for me to pester my doctor with descriptions of my w...

sorry about the long post

I have had a better experience than many. I have to start by saying that the biggest obstacle to my treatment is me. For years I have gone to the doctor and never mentioned any of the symptoms that would lead to sleep apnea. My wife told me about sleep apnea but I honestly thought that I was being l...

I use the Swift. I think it's great. I really struggled with the nose mask that I used during my sleep study and was worried about having to get used to it. It was a relief getting the Swift.

BTW - I sleep on my side and haven't had many problems with leaking.

I've been fortunate. I have been using my ResMed Spirit APAP with ResMed Swift for a week. I have had extremely good results so far. My sleep study RDI was 101 per hour. Using my equipment it wend to to 3.7 per hour. I can't even begin to describe how much better I feel already. I am not taking naps...

I use a Mirage Swift Nasal Pillows System, sleep on my side, and rarely have leaks.

I don't know about my BMI but I do know that I am obese. My doctor tells me that I would have OSA regardless but the weight makes it that much worse. I am sure it is no coincidence that my OSA started to really manifest itself about three years ago, about the same time I started gaining a lot weight...

received an APAP and mask today

I went today and picked up my APAP and mask. I received a ResMed Autoset Spirit and I picked out a ResMed Mirage Swift . I did not receive a heated humidifer but I am going to talk to my doctor next week about it. Hopefully I'll be one of the lucky ones and feel an improvement immediately. This foru...

TXKajun - it's always good to hear success stories. I am about a month behind you - I was diagnosed with OSA in January, I am picking up an APAP on Wednesday, and hope that I have similiar results to yours.

I too have newly been diagnosed with sleep apnea. On one hand it's depressing to know that I am going to have to use a CPAP , etc. On the other hand I am really excited to know what is wrong with me - I didn't have a clue but it seemed things were getting worse and worse. The only problem is that I ...

I'm with you - I was diagnosed with sleep apnea last week. It's a relief knowing what's wrong with me.

I have an appointment with respiratory therapy on March 15 - I wish it was sooner but at least by then I should have a little knowledge and I should be able to ask questions.
