Re: Assistance with Therapy
Update: Finally had my 3rd sleep study last night with the ASV. Unfortunately, it did not go well at all. Everytime I was about to drift off to sleep, the machine would send a puff of air which would wake me up. It also seemed to be increasing the pressure when I inhaled which I did not find enjoyab...

Re: Assistance with Therapy
Update: I had my sleep study about two weeks ago and got the results last week. During the titration, they were unable to find a pressure that resolved my obstructive events that did not cause excessive centrals. They want me to come back in for a titration with an ASV machine. I guess that is progr...

Re: Assistance with Therapy
Update: I had my titration study earlier this week. Unfortunately, it did not go very well at all. I was unable to fall asleep for many hours which was extremely frustrating. I doubt they got the data they needed to determine an optimum pressure (if there is one) or to determine if I belong on a dif...

Re: Assistance with Therapy
Well, I went ahead and scheduled a titration. I have it later this week actually. I think this is probably the first time I'm actively wishing for a bad night with a bunch of CAs. If I happen to have a good night (<5 ahi), I don't know where that will leave me. I can't see them approving any changes...

Re: Assistance with Therapy
Their recommendation of a second study to titration makes sense. The only way they can prove the central events are true events is to do an in lab study. Also, most insurance companies will not approve the purchase of bilevel or ASV type machine without a titration study. Gotcha, that makes sense t...

Re: Assistance with Therapy
Sometimes centrals that start up AFTER starting cpap will go away with time. So doctors will often say "give it time" and 9 or 10 per hour is low enough that it is worth "giving it time". That's because the cpap therapy itself caused them but when someone has a bunch of centrals PRIOR to and withou...

Re: Assistance with Therapy
Hi Pugsy, Thank you for your post. The type of machine you are using will do a good job with the hyponeas (and it seems to be doing that because of the relatively small number of hyponeas) but it won't'/can't do a darn thing for central apneas. Since you had centrals prior to starting cpap therapy t...

Re: Assistance with Therapy
Hi Miss Emerita, I grabbed a snapshot of my sleep study results, please see below. I never received an actual physical or digital copy with complete graphs and what not. All I have is kind of like a summary of the results. sleep_study.PNG My primary care made a similar remark in regards to Citalopra...

Re: Assistance with Therapy
Alright, I took a look at the data and.... I'm not really sure. My breathing pattern didn't seem as regular or uniform as the examples shown in the video which made it hard to decide between arousal vs non-arousal CAs. My personal opinion is that some of them were definitely flagged incorrectly but ...

Re: Assistance with Therapy
I will do my best to watch the videos and analyze the data later today. I would say my main symptoms are always waking up tired regardless of how much I sleep and constant tiredness/fatigue during the day. I'm relatively young (34) and relatively healthy so I don't feel like I should be exhausted al...

Re: Assistance with Therapy
Hi Pugsy, Thank you for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it. I currently have the EPR set to ramp only. Answers to your questions: 1.) I don't wake up very often. I would say most of the nights I sleep all the way through. Sometimes I will get woken up as my fiance gets out of bed or showers...

Assistance with Therapy
Hello, Last time I posted on this forum, I was looking for help with becoming acclimated to using the CPAP. After considerable effort, I can now say that I am able to use the machine consistently every night for 7+ hours. This is a huge deal for me and it might sound kind of lame but I'm actually ve...

Re: New Member - Struggling With CPAP
If you need EPR..to fall asleep...set EPR to ramp only and set a time for the ramp and use the ramp. The reason I want EPR off is to see if it makes any difference in those central/clear airway apneas. Hoping for a significant reduction. There are 3 settings available for EPR....off, on full time a...
