Obstructive apnea without a flow limit

Question, can you have an obstructive apnea without having a flow limit. I haven't had an OA for 6 months and last night I had 3 OA's but there was no flow limit. Could someone explain how that can happen? Thanks.

Re: Nose sores making cpap impossible

Peace, I'm assuming the sore area is right at the bottom of the nose where the horizontal meets the vertical of the face. That's where I had the same sores develop using the nasal mask. I could only go about two weeks before a sore would develop, so as soon as I felt or saw it, I switched to a Pico ...

Re: Searching for REM sleep

re: REM sleep Maybe something to consider. This looked exactly like my Oscar charts and I didn't realize the flow restrictions were actually showing the same pattern almost every night based on timing. I hadn't ever heard this before until seeing this short video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJA...

Re: Nose sores making cpap impossible

I had the same problem and tried the Dreamware FF mask and have never had any more sores. It is not much different than the nasal mask but the cushion is softer. I believe you could try it using the nasal headgear and all you would need is a FF cushion. I could only last 2 weeks at a time with the n...

Re: CPAP machine filter: Necessary or just another revenue stream?

A simple thing you can do if the filter looks white and clean is remove it from the machine, take it outside and hold it in one hand and flick it hard with the middle finger of your other hand. If it's light out and you have a darkish background you will see captured dust flying out of the filter. I...

I agree the new software is useless. I have emailed a request for a link to download the old software and if they do provide me one, I will post it here. I'm not holding my breath however as the ring has been flawless for two years for me, their support has been the opposite.

Re: Pulse Oximeters in CPap machines.

Rubicon, The only reason I copied and pasted that info was to give some sense of how many of these arousals can take place in a given night. At first, I had no idea what was happening when the flow chart showed me in sound sleep, only to have a a chaotic few seconds, followed by a return to sound sl...

. https://imgur.com/a/VNrqWG5 Data and Roby, Since this thread touches on both oximeter use and arousals, I'll throw in my experience. I use the Wellue ring each night. Initially, I got it because I have a very low heart rate which my doctors say for me it is normal. I go down to 36 numerous times d...

Re: In the UK...Mild OSA/UARS, awful nasal congestion at baseline, don't know where to begin with masks

Granny, Here's two that were fatal.. It's extremely rare. From 2006-2015, there were 37 cases in the U.S., three of those due to nasal wash with tap water. If you do get it, it has a 97% fatality. So it's probably not going to happen, but for 99 cents for a gallon of distilled water that lasts me al...

Re: In the UK...Mild OSA/UARS, awful nasal congestion at baseline, don't know where to begin with masks

Rick, I had no idea that you couldn't go to any grocery store or Walmart in the UK and pick up a gallon of distilled water, so thanks for educating me on that. As someone who has recommended using a nasal wash to safely clear your sinuses, I feel I also have a responsibility to point out the downsid...

Oz, We're on the same page. What I said was, Pod, Nasal washes are great, but the one imperative thing is to use only distilled water. As I mentioned in my post, a nasal wash combined with Xlear spray is even better to totally clear your sinuses. I used the word imperative to emphasize the importanc...

Pod,
Nasal washes are great, but the one imperative thing is to use only distilled water. As I mentioned in my post, a nasal wash combined with Xlear spray is even better to totally clear your sinuses.
