Re: Been sent my full results for mild sleep apnea.

Heart rate spiking is normal in OSA (within reason). First step: Blockage occurs restricting ability to breath. Second step: Oxygen levels start to drop. Third step: Brain says uh oh something is wrong. Gives body a shot of adrenaline which increases heart rate, causes arousal etc. Treat the OSA an...

Re: Been sent my full results for mild sleep apnea.

It seems I have similar situation as was put on CPAP therapy for mild to moderate sleep apnea by a pulmonologist. But the results were from a home study. After seeing the pulmonologist and starting therapy I decided to see ENT because of my chronic nasal congestion at night due to allergies. I now ...

I've used it for around 2 weeks and every day is the same.... heart rate spiking like this and w...

Re: Been sent my full results for mild sleep apnea.

Hi Jamaicandon , I'm not familiar with this app, but after a few minutes of study, I note that. a. You are having episodes of deep sleep, and a total of 34 pc of the time at that. Sleep experts will tell you that it is during deep sleep that most of the tissue repair and restorative effects go on. ...

Re: Been sent my full results for mild sleep apnea.

Pugsy asked: "What are the odds that someone could get a type II home sleep study done in the UK?" Within the NHS : – slim. In my area, fewer that one in ten possible-sleep-apnea patients gets an in-hospital sleep-lab study. Usually only the more difficult or unusual cases. With a really severe or ...

Re: Been sent my full results for mild sleep apnea.

Hi Pugsy , Jamaicandon is posting from the UK. He started an earlier thread a week or so ago – a thread to which I contributed. :) I've already told him that he doesn't meet the NHS threshold for CPAP treatment (which is an AHI of 15 and above). I suggested he get himself referred to ENT to have th...

Re: Been sent my full results for mild sleep apnea.

High pulse rate average happening 49 times an hour. No way of knowing what percentage of the night it might be. Your sleep study wasn't very comprehensive in the amount of information it gives you. Pretty much a pulse rate and oximeter (oxygen levels) and that's it. That seems very high, high pulse...

Re: Been sent my full results for mild sleep apnea.

Read this. Forget the alcohol part and substitute anything for it as to how important sleep quality is to people. https://www.sleepfoundation.org/articles/how-alcohol-affects-quality-and-quantity-sleep You have crappy sleep quality and some of it might be related to the OSA and airway issues but so...

They mean what it says...very mild OSA Read this for a more in depth explanation as to what each point means http://adventures-in-hosehead-land.blogspot.com/p/understanding-data-in-your-sleep-test.html Number of arousals is high though but they don't mention if the arousals were related to breathin...

Re: AHI of 6 been told dont need cpap..UK..chronic rhinitis

Hello again, Jamaicandon , I understand. You have chronic rhinitis which leads to swollen nasal tissue, and you have extra mucus production, some of which (I get from what you say) winds up in your throat. The thing is, the primary causes of sleep apnea are (1) the tongue falling back and (2) the w...

Re: Have chronic rhinitis.. Ahi of 6 been told dont need cpap

Do you have a copy of your test results where you were determined to have an AHI of 6? If your test did not have a lot of sleep time, did not have much REM sleep, did not have much supine sleep, and/or did not have much supine sleep while in REM, your test results may not be fully reflective of the...

Re: AHI of 6 been told dont need cpap..UK..chronic rhinitis

Hi kteague , It's unlikely that the OP had an in-sleep-lab full-on sleep study. It used to be that only one in 10 patients referred to a NHS sleep-medicine department got such a study, and now it's even fewer than that. So it's unlikely he knows the kind of results you speak of. Maybe supine vs not...

AHI of 6 been told dont need cpap..UK..chronic rhinitis

What should I do? I am tired constantly... never feel refreshed, I'm not as bad as some people but it is affecting my quality of life. Around 1pm at work I am exhausted and struggling to stay awake.

Should I just buy my own device? I am in the UK.
