Re: Rookie CPAP User

2 nights without CPAP and using Nasacort per doctors orders...the wife has not heard me snore at all and I have slept through the night until nearly time for my alarm to go off (4-4:30 arousal and I get up 5). I cannot believe how much the Nasacort has helped. Within a few minutes of taking it my no...

Re: Rookie CPAP User

Went to ENT and that was an interesting visit. Here is the nickel version: 1. I have a deviated septum. It is not severe, but it is on both sides and the left is the worst. 2. The Dr. Reviewed my sleep study with me. He would not have prescribed a CPAP based on the results. Me not knowing what any o...

Re: Rookie CPAP User

Please note :These are in a smoking household (tho I don't smoke) they may have picked up the scent in the air. I know some are super sensitive to smoke smell so I mention it. Thank you so much! This site is hands down the most generous to new members I have ever seen, and I have been on a lot of f...

Re: Rookie CPAP User

Weekend update: I got the F&P Brevida on Friday from Pugsy (thanks so much for the generosity). Compared to the Amara is quite simply amazing. It's not perfect, but it's let me know I'm headed in the right direction. My AHI with the Amara was in the teens more or less...with the Brevida it has been ...

Re: Rookie CPAP User

Thanks for all of the responses. I am learning a lot via the site and my own personal experience. Just so it is clear to those replying and helping, here is quick summary. 1. I live with some level of stuffiness/congestion 2. I cannot breathe through my mouth. Yes, of course I do at times, but it is...

Re: Rookie CPAP User

I simply can't knowingly mouth breath. I just have to breath through my nose especially at night or I just can't sleep. What have you done to try to alleviate the stuffiness when you do have it? Seen ENT to rule out physical causes like polyps or deviated septum? Tried various meds to decrease the ...

Re: Rookie CPAP User

No mask should cause pain, blisters, sores or skin abrasions of any kind. If it does it's either the wrong size, fitted improperly or simply not a good fit for a person's face. If you can breathe through your nose at all during the day there is a chance that you can use a nasal interface mask. It a...

Re: Rookie CPAP User

Because of the nose stuffiness issues, you don't want a nasal mask or a pillow mask. Go to cpap.com and look at the Resmed F12. Not the Airtouch…. just the regular F12. Turn the ramp off.... if you haven't already. Sheriff This is interesting. I want to try to the nasal or pillow mask. Anything tha...

Re: Rookie CPAP User

I have chronic year-round nasal congestion, vasomotor rhinitis, along with year-round allergies. Check out my mask (click on it in my signature), the first of the hybrid-style full-face masks. I use Ocean saline in the can because the squeeze bottle doesn't provide enough pressure to wash nose & si...

Re: Rookie CPAP User

Information sent. I really appreciate this and just the information/support overall on this site. What is your lower pressure it may be too low making you feel unable to breath. Your minimum should be set to at least 6 Out of the box it was 4. I bumped it to 7. Can't tell much of a difference, but ...

Re: Rookie CPAP User

Would you like for me to go digging around in the donations box to see if I have something you might like to try? Free to you ....the only thing I ask is postage reimbursement if you can afford it but if you can't...I will still mail it to you. I guarantee more comfortable. Pugsy - what an awesome ...

Re: Rookie CPAP User

Time for a different mask. Finding the right mask is the hardest part of this journey IMHO. It does you no good if you can't sleep well with it. You gotta get some sleep foremost. What humidity setting are you using? It was off (respitory therapists said we don't need it here in south GA in the sum...

Re: Rookie CPAP User

I'm not giving up, but after 4 nights of basically no sleep I decided to go last night without the CPAP. I woke up feeling much better today and rested. The problem continues to revolve around two issues that I can't seem to physically overcome. 1. The mask goes and I cannot breathe. My nose is stuf...

Re: As soon as I lie down...

Been dealing with congestion...especially when I lay down at night for near 20 years. I I have not found anything that touches it. None of the allergy sprays, saline remedies, or Afrin does much, and most of the time they make it worse.

Finally seeing an ENT next week.
