Re: UARS(upper airway restrictive syndrome) was making my CPAP use difficult
Midwest, thank you very much for sharing your experience. You were so lucky to find a good sleep doctor on your second try. A lot of people just don't have that opportunity, and for them, learning about your experience might be especially helpful. For other people reading this thread, I'll mention ...

Re: UARS & CPAP
Dear miner 49er, I have UARS, and was having a very hard time sleeping with PAP alone. I am now sleeping very well with a dental appliance along with low pressure APAP. I also do the tongue and throat exercises. I don't know which of the 3 is working the best, most likely the appliance, but I get a ...

UARS(upper airway restrictive syndrome) was making my CPAP use difficult
I'm posting this just in case someone else might have this condition. It's supposed to be rather rare. I got my CPAP about 3 months ago in August after being diagnosed with sleep apnea. At first things seemed fine. I was sleeping well. I even posted about it here on cpaptalk. Then for some reason it...

Re: Question about "Flow limitation" what is it and why does it spike my pressure?
Can you please post the detailed software report showing this "sudden" spike in pressure? Normally these machines don't do anything suddenly or like blink of an eye sudden. I am wondering what seems so "sudden" to you. I'm sorry. I probably shouldn't have used the term "sudden". I don't know how qu...

Question about "Flow limitation" what is it and why does it spike my pressure?
This morning I was awaken by my machine suddenly increasing pressure. I looked on the OSCAR data and it showed a "flow limitation" right about that time. No Apneas, Clear airway, or hypopnea events, just the FL or flow limitation. What is this? And why does it suddenly ramp up my pressure? I'm using...

I would like to thank everyone on this site, especially Pugsy
This site has helped me to understand a lot about the different numbers and terms that are used when talking about sleep apnea. I have always tried to be an informed patient, but you can't get all the information you need just from your doctor. Doctors don't have the time, plus it's often best to ge...

Re: Nothing seems consistent for me right now
I use both OSCAR and SleepyHead. I started using SleepyHead when it first was born back in 2011. OSCAR is based off the last version of SleepyHead. Wow, I just took a look at my data in OSCAR! Up until now I was just using the software app that came with my machine and it doesn't go into a whole lo...

Re: Nothing seems consistent for me right now
A couple of nights ago I had an AHI of 3.11 night....some centrals and some OAs. 22 events total. Unusually high AHI night for me so I took a little bit of time and zoomed in on each event. All the centrals were arousal related and all but 3 of the OAs were arousal related. Only 3 out of the total ...

Re: Nothing seems consistent for me right now
How is your sleep quality during the night? Waking often tossing and turning more maybe? Just how many centrals are we talking about? You might want to do the education needed so you can figure out if those centrals are real or not. If they aren't real they don't matter except for the fact you prob...

Re: Nothing seems consistent for me right now
So what is going on? I have good nights and bad nights but they have nothing to do with cpap or sleep apnea or my equipment. Not sure what is going on. I know my data shows more clear airway apneas on the bad nights. I'm not sure I know exactly what those are. I suspect it is some kind of emergent ...

I'm a little confused on this term.

Nothing seems consistent for me right now
I'll have a good night followed by two bad, then maybe another good night or a not so good night. I'm in a love hate relationship with CPAP right now.

Re: New here with questions
Machines have a Ramp feature which allows the machine to start at a low pressure and gradually increase to your therapy pressure. What are your pressure settings? Is your Ramp setting ON? What are the settings? What specific machine are you using? Thanks for your reply The ramp on my machine is off...

Re: New here with questions
Your machine does not know if your asleep or not our awake breathing is very irregular promoting the machine to raise pressure. I suggest now you can sleep with the machine only turn it off once you have finished reading and plan to go to sleep. There will be nothing technically wrong with your mac...

New here with questions
Hi Everybody, I'm totally new to the world of CPCP. I only started using my machine 15 nights ago. I've had some good nights and bad nights so I'm still adjusting to things. My question is about my machine. I have an APAP which is supposed to self adjust. Usually I start by turning on the machine an...
