Re: Increase in AHI
Hey Almost doc...If the machine you have listed is really the machine you are using..it's a brick..Limited usable data to monitor your therapy. If you are using the CPAP model, no wonder you don't know what is happening. Thank you for the insults. It's the same machine you have. -- EDIT Sorry no, n...

Re: How do you make mask cushion last longest?
BOILING IS THE WORST. Did you even read the context surrounding the suggestions of when masks could and should be boiled? Or the linked topics where many discussed their success? Don't attempt it unless the cushion was going in the trash can anyway just in case you mess up. Thus the precautionary, ...

Re: Increase in AHI
Does anyone have any specific information to the contrary? Yep. The need to increase the minimum is to give the machine a better head start to get to where it needs to be in a timely manner in which to prevent the airway from collapsing in the first place. Not try to fix something after it has alre...

I hear a lot of people talk about changing minimum rates on auto machines on this board. Is there something I'm missing? I've studied ResMed "auto" algorithms and the minimum rate is meaningless as long as the maximum rate is within a therapeutic range. This is because the "auto" function studies e...

Re: ResMed P10 Headgear Upgrade from N30
Sorry. I hear you. All of this is really affected by personal preference to get comfortable enough to fall asleep. I wish the therapists, DMEs, and manufacturers were more tuned into this.

Re: How do you make mask cushion last longest?
HOLY SMOKES! Most of you are way, way overwashing. The manufacturer recommendation about "wash every day in soap and water" is an idiotic CYA recommendation and just insures more income on consumables. 99% of disinfecting is done with simple water and mechanical action. Oils like citrus in wipes wil...

Re: ResMed P10 Headgear Upgrade from N30
I use the P10 and have had problems with the split strap repositioning during the night, losing fit and causing big leaks. To mitigate this, I wear a close-fitting knit cap as a nightcap at night. (Keeps my balding head from the draft, too.) The cap really decreases the repositioning of the straps a...

Re: Waking up gasping
In a nutshell, if you have an "auto" machine, the minimum pressure setting shouldn't affect your AHI. The auto algorithms should be detecting and preventing obstructions. If they're not, look for leaks and other malfunctions. "Auto" machines like the modern Dreamstation monitor every inspiration flo...

Please work with your doctor for the settings. You people are completely misunderstanding the settings and you're completely ignoring how the Autoset algorithms work. The range 4-20 is for an intelligent startup process. Sure, you get very little therapy between 4-7. But it's much easier to fall asl...

to anyone interested in flonase, after you try it and like it, look for the generic kirkland equivalent at costco. i say after you know you like it because the generic comes 5 bottles to a pack. sorry, don't remember the price. and hat tip to forum member dog slobber for alerting me to this. i pers...

Re: Best nasal mask and get Aerocare to give me 3rd mask?
In a nutshell: Look at the F&P (Fisher & Paykel) Brevida Nasal Pillows (more comfortable than P10) and their Eson 2 nasal Mask. Details follow. I have Kaiser Permanente insurance in California, and Apria is my DME. I never had to ask them about mask options because my Respiratory Therapist at Kaiser...

Re: Another Stuffy Nose Question
Thanks for the replies. I get condensation in the hose and mask at a humidity setting of 5 and above on the AirSense 10. Actually, I've never gone above 6. Raising the hose temp helps, but there's still a little rainout in the mask even at 84-85 degrees. On the lower humidity/temp settings, I get r...
