Re: Clusters of hypopneas with no flow limitation
Still doing really well with the lower pressures -- AHI is consistently much lower than before: https://prnt.sc/p9tzw4 The pressure support now seems to be sufficiently powerful to eliminate most of the hypopneas from before. However, I am wondering if the big pressure spikes themselves could also b...

Re: Clusters of hypopneas with no flow limitation
I would lower your PS Min to the default of 3. A min PS of 6 is enough to actually induce centrals in someone who doesn't normally have them. If your machine is over-ventilating you at baseline, you'll be more likely to have central events. That's interesting, thanks! I tried lowering the min EPAP ...

Re: Clusters of hypopneas with no flow limitation
Thanks for the help, everyone. I tried raising the PS Max to the maximum setting of 19, so the pressure was going up to 25 during these shallow breaths. Here's last night, full chart: https://prnt.sc/p8nk5a Here's a zoom-in one of the hypopnea clusters: https://prnt.sc/p8nlgn The machine clearly ram...

Re: Clusters of hypopneas with no flow limitation
I can't say for sure if I was awake or not. I feel like I did manage to have a long stretch of uninterrupted sleep last night and a lot of these events are within that I think. Maybe I should try to record myself on video for a few nights and see if I can correlate these events with any sleep positi...

Clusters of hypopneas with no flow limitation
I am getting big clusters of hypopneas throughout the night where the breathing pattern on the flow rate gets much smaller, then followed by a big breath. Then repeat several times. See here: https://prnt.sc/p7o5le And here: https://prnt.sc/p7o32i There is no flow limitation shown on the charts that...

Re: New APAP user, lots of events despite high pressure
My first night with the Resmed Aircurve 10 ASV: https://prnt.sc/p76gcm Settings: Mode -- ASVAuto Min EPAP: 7 Max EPAP: 15 Min PS: 5 (I raised it from 3 to 5 during the night) Max PS: 15 It took me a few hours to fall asleep and I didn't sleep long when I finally fell asleep. But I feel surprisingly ...

Re: Is this normal REM sleep?
I have set up my equipment profile now. I am using the Airsense 10 Autoset and the Airtouch F20 full-face mask. Here's last night: https://prnt.sc/p0p6h9 With snores and flow limitations: https://prnt.sc/p0p76e I usually have zero snores when using the APAP, which is interesting because I am usually...

Re: Is this normal REM sleep?
No I didn't know that, I thought it was mostly during REM sleep.
Here's another night: https://prnt.sc/p0bleq
Shows many instances of extremely rapid breathing at 40-50 or higher :/

Here's a zoom showing the zero line on the flow rate graph: https://prnt.sc/p0428p I'm counting what looks like 47 real breaths. Just a few can be explained by the line crossing the zero more twice in a single breath. I don't have any history of seizures, spasms or panic attacks. Edit: I just asked ...

Does this clarify anything?
Ballistographic -- not sure I understand. Are you referring to an echo if the tube gets twisted in some way?

Re: New APAP user, lots of events despite high pressure
Thanks again for the help. Something very interesting happened last night. I put on the 12-20 pressure again, this time with EPR of 3. But I forgot to add water to the tank, so there was no humidity. Then I went to bed again in the day since I had to wake up too early and I just turned the humidity ...

Re: New APAP user, lots of events despite high pressure
Thanks again for your help. I am going to try to optimize for comfort and compliance for a while but still try to keep the pressure relatively high. Maybe the arousals will reduce when I get more used to having the mask on my face. Looks like the high AHI isn't that much of a real issue since so man...

Re: New APAP user, lots of events despite high pressure
Yes, that does make sense. And that video was very helpful, thanks. I took a nap and initially tried the 15-20 setting (no EPR), but I just couldn't do it as it was too uncomfortable to breathe while trying to fall asleep. If I really need a pressure of 20 or higher then I think I should get a Bipap...

Re: New APAP user, lots of events despite high pressure
Thanks again for the very helpful answers. I am watching the videos now. Looks like the majority of these events could just be false positives. Many of the hypopneas look just like normal breathing and many of the OAs and CAs look like there is arousal before they happened. If that is the case, woul...
