Re: HuffDog's Therapy Thread - Optimizing my therapy
My next question relates to dreaming. When I was younger, I would dream a lot. Vivid dreams that I could remember the next day. As I grew older the dreaming stopped, presumably as my sleep apnea got worse. I anticipated that dreaming would come back as I optimized my therapy. But it hasn't. My AHI i...

Re: Seeking CPAP solution for overseas travel with possible limited/intermittent electricity
or 2) a non-electrical substitute, like one of the in-mouth objects I'd seen advertised. (Do they really work?) Just my 2 cents... I've tried the "boil n bite" cheap ones you can get from Amazon, and the expensive ones made by a dentist. In my experience, the cheap ones are probably better than not...

Re: HuffDog's Therapy Thread - Optimizing my therapy
Ok, looking for some advice/opinions. I've had a few more nights of pretty good sleep. The pressure is still at 8/13. Flex is at 3. Graphs and AHI look pretty much the same as in my original post, so I'm not adding more at the moment. Here's the rub...while I'm feeling much better than pre CPAP, i f...

Re: Feeling discouraged, need advice
I am at the point where I wonder if I'll continue.. what is the point of dealing with the machine and hose, and all the hassle for that ? If I feel kinda the same ? While I cant top the technical advice given here by the veteran CPAP-ERS, I'd like to offer some encouragement. I'm merely 2 weeks int...

Re: Phillips - Mask free solution for positional OSA
I suppose anything is possible if a person tries hard enough and gets lucky but I haven't been able to do it yet and I have been trying for well over 5 years now because the back stuff has gotten so bad the last few years. Woke up this morning...flat on my back hurting like hell.  Someti...

Re: Phillips - Mask free solution for positional OSA
Speaking of trying to stay off our backs... I spent the better part of 45 years sleeping on my back, or at least mostly. Is it possible to train ourselves to become side sleepers? Or is it a lost cause? My pulmonologist says that we all try to revert back to our "normal" sleep positions no matter wh...

Re: Mouth guards - effective ?
Thank you :) Were you using a morning positioner since the start of using the MAD ? I had never heard of it - dont know what it means - but will ask the dentist. What kind of apnea do you have - and can you pls elaborate some more on the effectiveness of your MAD ? I'll start by saying that I initi...

HuffDog's Therapy Thread - Optimizing my therapy
Ok, so I've been on APAP for about a week now. Starting to get used to this alien stuck to my face at night. Overall, I'm starting to feel much better in pretty much all aspects. Waking up more rested, not dreading get out of bed, etc. But I'm still waking up multiple times during the night. The las...

Re: Mouth guards - effective ?
I used a MAD for 2 years. It worked well for me, for the most part. I found it to be less effective when I gained some weight, or slept on my back. I recently moved over to a APAP because I didn't feel it was giving me the full therapy that I needed. Also, i like being able to review my AHI in the m...

Re: First night on CPAP, coming up in a few hours
So i had a few rough nights on my Resmed machine that I purchased out of pocket. I could never get comfortable with exhale on that machine. Insurance finally got around to sending me a machine, but it's a Dreamstation. Exhale seems more comfortable for me. Current equipment now in my signature. I ac...

Re: First night on CPAP, coming up in a few hours
any thoughts on why the pressure goes higher and higher even when I'm not asleep? The machine doesn't know if you are asleep or not. It only measures air flow. Awake breathing is very irregular when compared to asleep breathing but that awake breathing being irregular can cause the machine to respo...
