Re: If I travel is it better to choose a national supplier & can they accept a prescription written to a different suppl
You shouldn't ever need 'emergency supplies', you should have a couple spares of everything, if something breaks, replace it and get another spare. That's a good way of doing it. I learned the hard way when my tubing sprung a leak on the road and I had to order an emergency one from Amazon. In the ...

Re: CPAP during MRI???
I have an MRI scheduled for next week, and I'm thinking up all sorts of things to feel anxious about. I'll be taking an Ativan to help me relax since I'm a little (spell that a LOT) claustrophobic. I'm hoping I'll actually fall asleep during it (somehow!), but then I worry about apnea and snoring, ...

Re: I have a split sleep study this Sunday and I think there will be problems
I used Ambien on both of my last two sleep studies without any problems. If you take the Ambien just before they put you in the bed, it will have around 8 hours to wear off. You will be monitored the entire night so there is not danger of you getting up and walking out while under the influence of ...

Re: I have a split sleep study this Sunday and I think there will be problems
Hope that you get to use your past sleep studies. If not, though, in my first sleep study, I barely got 3 hours of sleep after lying awake for 5 hours at the sleep lab. Just enough sleep data to show that I needed a CPAP. The next sleep study that I had, about 5 or 6 years later, my sleep doctor re...

Re: I have a split sleep study this Sunday and I think there will be problems
There is a chance Medicare will not pay for an unnecessary study, and you might be stuck. You might want to cancel it. Good point! You know what...I am going to try Medicare Live Chat tomorrow with a different agent, and see if he or she says the same thing. If so, then I will cancel my study tomor...

Re: If I travel is it better to choose a national supplier & can they accept a prescription written to a different suppl
My prescription at www/cpap.com is for 99 months. A DME may require a year--in case insurance needs "fresh paper". When paying out of pocket, nobody cares, but doctors may resist out of ignorance. Apnea does not get better with time--if anything, it can worsen. Come to think of it, that's right! My...

Re: I have a split sleep study this Sunday and I think there will be problems
Well, well well...I have good news! I went to Medicare Live Chat. Here is what they said: "[3:38:48 pm]: [my name] Hi, I want Medicare to pay for my CPAP machine I am getting. I have had two sleep studies in the past, August, 2017 and June, 2018, which confirmed my obstructive sleep apnea and need f...

Re: I have a split sleep study this Sunday and I think there will be problems
The problem is now I want Medicare to pay for supplies and a new machine. Medicare requires that I have a split sleep study done within the past year in order to pay for the new machine and supplies. This was confirmed by two different DME suppliers. You might want to confirm that with Medicare ins...

Awesome! I thought that all prescriptions expire in a year, by law, but I guess not! I will ask!chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 5:27 pmAsk your doctor for a non-expiring prescription for use with ANY dealer.
(Even out of network)
Then you can handle emergencies on the road.
You only need to ask.

I have a split sleep study this Sunday and I think there will be problems
I have had two sleep studies in the past, on 8/2017 (split) and 6/2018 (non-split). These confirmed my OSA and the need for PAP therapy. I paid for the CPAP machine on my own. The problem is now I want Medicare to pay for supplies and a new machine. Medicare requires that I have a split sleep study ...

If I travel is it better to choose a national supplier & can they accept a prescription written to a different supplier?
Hi, I often travel across the country. I am about to get a new CPAP/BiPAP after my upcoming sleep study. Should I choose a national DME sleep supplier, in case I need emergency supplies or a CPAP machine while on the road, like Apria, or use a local one? The local one I have in mind is California Sl...

Re: Switched to nasal pillows last night and could not fall asleep
Eventually a lot of us have just got to the point that opening the mouth is second nature with the nasal pillows being used even with pressure. I know you won't believe me right now but there is a chance that later you can open your mouth and talk and/or even blow raspberries at someone and not eve...

Re: Switched to nasal pillows last night and could not fall asleep
Thanks so much Pugsy! Everything you said makes sense. I think I was probably unconsciously nervous. They were new, so I probably was excited too. I will try going to bed early and reading my phone with them on. The good thing is now I can see fine with them on since they don't interfere with vision...
