Re: Switched to ResMed; loving it

I started out with an AirMini, cos I needed to travel a lot. Then I had a tonsillectomy and started to really need humidity, so I switched over to the DreamStation Go with the heated humidifier. While the humidifier was a nice welcome, I found that just about every other aspect was inferior. I had t...

Re: Resmed F20

I'm using the F20 as well, and it is the quietest mask that I have ever used. However, the caveat is that you gotta be using the latest quietair elbow. Take a close look at your elbow and if you can actually see the vent holes all around the interface, then you are not using the quietair one. The qu...

Re: Additional humidification help

Just to update everyone here... I've tried it with just the humidX F20 disc without the humidifier chamber. Too dry. I tried it with the humidX F20 disc along with another inline HME (but still without the humidification chamber, trying to see if I can do away with it). A bit better, but still too d...

Re: Additional humidification help

I live in a very hot area (Malaysia) so we sleep with aircons on (which dries the air out) Try to place your CPAP so that AC is not blowing directly on it. My machine is actually inside my bedside cabinet. I've drilled a hole in the side for the hose to exit. This way, it is dead quiet. Cabinet is ...

Re: Why do we need humidification?

While it is the same air, same nose, etc....the air going past the nasal mucosa and into our airway is going by with more pressure or speed that our normal breathing. While it is the same air....it is moving faster. All things being equal if you hang your clothes outside to dry....on a windy day or...

Why do we need humidification?

I find myself wondering why we need humidification. I can understand in the case of tracheostomys,... but I mean, I am sitting here now, breathing through my nose, and my mouth or nose isn't dry. Why is it at night with FF mask, do I then need humidification? It's the same air. It's the same nose...

Re: Additional humidification help

Does your mouth open? Could that be why you use so much water in the FF mask? Or do you live in a very dry climate? Mouth only opens if I use a nasal mask or nasal pillows. That's why I need to use FF. But once I use FF, mouth remains closed. I live in a very hot area (Malaysia) so we sleep with ai...

Re: Additional humidification help

Using it at home, you could add a small humidifier to the room. Doesn't it get very noisy without the foam? The increase in noise is very slight. Makes me wonder why they bothered with the foam in the first place. Depending on the mask used ....the HME disc might help...it has to be in place real c...

Additional humidification help

Using a dreamstation go. (with the foam removed) when I use the heated humidifier at level 4, the amount of water is just about right, but when I sleep for longer than usual (eg during weekend) the water runs out and I get dry throat. If I set the humidifier at level 3, the water lasts long enough, ...

Re: Newbie seeking opinions on AirMini vs. DreamStation Go

I used an Airmini for almost a year before undergoing a tonsillectomy (yes, at 47) After the procedure, it was unbearably dry. So I started looking for a travel unit with a humidifier. So I changed over to the DS Go. The noise is MUCH less than the airmini. Most of the noise seems to come out the in...

Re: FFM with under chin design

Yes, but surgery would only be a temporary fix as the tissue would regrow. This is true in the cases of cauterization, coblation, and radiofrequency reductions. These are easy treatments with easy recovery. They can be repeated easily. However, there is a kind of turbinate reduction where a surgeon...

Re: FFM with under chin design

The reason I have a CPAP is due to an issue with my nose where I don't have much space for air inside because I have too much flesh and that causes an issue with positive/negative pressure of airflow. So when my sinuses are irritated, I'm forced to mouth breathe so the nasal mask doesn't work at al...

Re: Dreamstation go humidifier firmware

Does anyone know where I can download the firmware for the dreamstation go humidifier? I received a new unit but it does not have the firmware installed or the SD card. Did you get the humidifier along with it? Or just the basic machine, expecting it to have the latest firmware? Cos I understand th...

Re: Humidifier almost empty after 1.5 hours of sleep

Do you mouth breathe? That can empty the chamber really fast, whether you are in a FF mask or not. It just can't keep up with the drying of the mucosa in your mouth. How does that affect the rate of evaporation? Because more air flows across the water, thus increasing evaporation. I'm still unclear...
