Reviewing CPAP usage 1.5 years in
Hello everyone, I am not feeling much better after 1.5 years of CPAP use. That could be from something unrelated to OSA, but at the very least, it feels very relevant to sleep. I wake up daily with a raging headache and it settles into fatigue as the day goes on. I was diagnosed at 7.1 AHI and my ma...

Anecdotal, but Roger Federer takes a 2-hour mid-afternoon nap every day (+ 10 hours at night!) and he's one of the highest performing people on the planet. elavi001, I may not know Roger Federer. But what I can say is; elavi001, you are no Roger Federer. We've got another captain obvious onboard! :...

Anecdotal, but Roger Federer takes a 2-hour mid-afternoon nap every day (+ 10 hours at night!) and he's one of the highest performing people on the planet. Roger is not whining and griping. You are. I have been using CPAP every night for a year. I just want to know why I'm not feeling the benefit. ...

For everyday people, taking sporadic naps longer than 30 minutes can disrupt nightly sleep and affect metabolism. But for athletes, who eat and exercise a ridiculous amount, napping can play a role in performance.--https://www.espn.com/blog/playbook/tech/post/_/id/797/sleep-tracking-brings-new-info...

Re: 12 Year old study claims "Mild OSA should not be treated." Thoughts?
captain obvious I still don't know the answer to my question. It could be something else going on, but It could still very well be that CPAP isn't working for me. It could be that book you read telling you to take two-hour naps. Why are you limiting nap lengths to 15 minutes? Naps are beneficial fo...

Re: What are your thoughts on these consumer pulse oximeters?
Well Sara Mednick is the lead researcher on all things related to naps and she wrote a book for the general public. So I trust it. Seems pretty trustworthy to me. I don't read research journals often and it's very difficult for a layman like me to digest them. So what you're saying her books put pe...

I have been using CPAP every night for a year. I'm not avoiding anything, I just want to know why I'm not feeling the benefit. Maybe because there is something else going on or in addition to mild OSA???? Thank you captain obvious. Well...you ask an obvious question so you get an obvious answer. I ...

Starting CPAP can often make it hard to sleep. I have solutions!
Nearly everyone goes through sleepless nights when starting CPAP treatment. In a sense, CPAP causes insomnia! I made a mega-guide on insomnia. Nearly every tip in this guide applies to the situation of CPAP too. The guide is meant to increase the feeling of sleepiness through positive lifestyle chan...

Re: What are your thoughts on these consumer pulse oximeters?
There is no evidence that brief naps during the afternoon have any effect on night time sleep quality (however, contrary to Elavi001's statement - the studies I reviewed did not show any evidence of improved night time sleep quality, either). I'm going to have to reconsider the advice I give my cli...

Re: What are your thoughts on these consumer pulse oximeters?
Almost of year of treatment hasn't made me feel an ounce better; I feel worse. It would be a good idea to have a careful look at this checklist: Good Sleep for CPAPers - Practice good sleep hygiene (Google it and read several sources; ignore extreme advice.) - Eat a good diet - Have a regular, mode...

I know some of you have refuted any witch-hunting, but don't play yourselves, y'all are condescending as hell.
