Re: Choosing a Battery
Hi Bbergin76, Ampeak Inverter Usage: Using the inverter is always less efficient than running directly on 12 volts. The maximum efficiency for our Ampeak inverters (per specs in instruction booklet) is 85%. Assuming 80% efficiency a 60 watt power requirement, 5 amps at 12 volts, will draw 6.25 amps...

Re: Choosing a Battery
Hi Bbergin76, The three components you list are exactly the items currently in our modular system and with the caveats below they have all worked well since they were acquired as upgrades/replacements for our 2018 Assateague Island trip mentioned earlier. Comments as follows: 1) ExpertPower 12200 2...

Re: Choosing a Battery
Yup, its just that simple! As for the fuse, its mainly to protect the wiring so its sized for the gauge of the wire, as it should be given that you don't know what your load will be. If you knew there was some other upper limit you could reduce the fuse appropriately. BTW, the 400 watt inverter cou...

Re: Choosing a Battery
Hi Bbergin 76, The ExpertPower 12200 battery terminals work well with O-Ring adapter connectors; mine are hooked up that way. Just screw the connectors on. Note that my battery packs use o-ring connectors that are smaller than those on the Deltran (custom spliced 12 awg wire with Anderson Pole conn...

Re: Choosing a Battery
See my original May 17th post on this thread - I use seperate 20 ah batteries for a more modular approach. Note that you will need to purchase an extra set of quick disconnects for this. Hi Lane, I took a look at your original post and looked at the battery you had referenced. Looks like it has a d...

Re: Choosing a Battery
Good advice from CapnLoki on purchase of a U1 battery. At a max 80% discharge it gives you 28 amp hours of usable power without a recharge. Per CapnLoki's estimate of 5 amp hours per night you should be covered for 5 evenings. This is also consistent with my experience (see earlier post in this thr...

I first tried to get to cpaptalk.com through Tapatalk but could never get any topics to load so I resorted to finding it through the web browser.

Re: Choosing a Battery
All batteries wear out as they are used, and generally wear more when deeply discharged. The question is what is the appropriate level? For those trying to maximize the number of cycles 50% it the rule - this allows for hundreds, even several thousand cycles. I get 7 years from a set of batteries o...

Re: Choosing a Battery
First, the "calculations": your wife's Dreamstation will draw about 5 amp-hours a night, so 5 nights would be 25 amp-hours. Your selected "generator" is only 20 amp-hours so this is a real stretch. On the other hand, the U1 AGM battery I recommend is 35 amp-hours so it should cover the load with a ...

Re: Choosing a Battery
A lot of very useful information in this thread and I am trying to process it all. I'm actually not the one that has sleep apnea; my wife is the one with sleep apnea and I am doing research for her. I am looking in to portable generators for tent camping purposes. We would only camp at sites we can ...
