Re: Special Electric Rates for CPAP Users
On PG&E's web site they listed a CPAP as life-support, don't know if it's since changed. Printed out the form, my doctor signed it. I didn't do this for cheaper bills, I did it so my power wouldn't be turned off, granted it won't help with wide spread outages. Now a back story. We moved to another c...

Re: Compliance phone call
Sorry, I have another question regarding CPAP modems. Does the DME program the CPAP or modem where the data is sent, who receives the data? My old CPAP's do not have modems, trying to understand how this works. My Insurance changed to a perpetual rental, thus my next CPAP will be out of pocket.

Re: Compliance phone call
A dumb question, I do not have a newer CPAP with a modem. My Wifi access is protected with a password.
If I don't provide a password it would seem the modem in a CPAP could not transmit any data or am I missing something?

Re: Sleepyhead shutting down?
I've been a member of this forum for 14 years. During my 14 years two or three others made software available for free which died from lack of support/updates as new machines came to market. All having short lives compared to Sleepyhead, none were cross platform like SH. Basically the developers wro...

Re: CPAP & Aortic Aneurysm
I have an ascending aortic aneurysm, discovered about the time I went on CPAP, around 2002 or 2003. I've very close to needing surgery and have been closely monitored. The good news is my aneurysm is considered stable, meaning it hasn't gotten any larger. My heart doctor feels the aneurysm was cause...

Re: Now here's a real rip-off
======= actually you dont pay anything for the Rx if you read the ad and doesnt insurance limit how much can be charged which is why you are forced to use approved DMEs if you want insurance to pay the real rip off are sleep labs and their needless overnight studies I ran into a bit of an exception...

Re: dme said it was new . meter says 405 hours usage on machine
Do DME's lie, heck yes. When I picked up my first machine and mask, I was told the mask could not be returned if opened. Get home, mask already opened, missing parts, impossible to use. Contact DME, told nothing they can do, it's how the mask comes from the factory. I was stuck with them for ten yea...

Re: New low for DME
Thank your for the great advice. I restrict my use of Java, but still use it on occasion with sites I trust, a false sense of security. MalwareBytes does have anti ransomware. I haven't recently checked but they said would keep a free puerperal Beta for two programs, I believe they are anti-ransomwa...

Re: New low for DME
Going 15 years without a virus is really amazing. Congratulations. I'm very sorry but I can't remember the name of the virus.

Re: New low for DME
It seems Microsoft also uses the term mbam, that's what came up first with a quick search. mbam is by Malwarebytes, i should have known that, but did a quick search to be sure and found MS term first.

Re: New low for DME
Thanks for all the suggestions. I really like Malwarebytes and several years ago purchased a lifetime license which is still honored. Surprisingly Malwarebytes was totally useless against that virus, it even prevented Chameleon from running. I tried every version more than once, even downloaded it a...

Re: New low for DME
That's an excellent suggestion to format the card before using it again. But with all the ransomware etc going around these days, I'm not comfortable sticking a SD card in my computer after it's been in a doctors or DME's computer. With all the SD cards they read every day there is no telling how mu...

Re: New low for DME
I was tempted to damage the SD card then give it to them, after they cant download the data, say oh well. Once my wife's card was damaged after a visit to her docs office and downloaded the data. It was obvious right away, her CPAP had an error message when she put the card back in the machine. Sinc...

Re: New low for DME
Regarding contacting her insurance, I had several long conversations with them in the past. Unfortunately if it's not in front of them on a computer screen I'm wasting my breath and time contacting them. Regarding billing issues etc, I'm told to contact the DME. Seems they can not or will not provid...

Re: New low for DME
Just spoke with a very nice person in the doctors office. She personally walked the download from the last visit to her doc. She just called back and said the DME already has that download, stating the insurance requires a compliance report from the last 90 days. I'm going to print out the report, s...
