Anyone have an extra Simplus medium mask?
I recently switched to a full face mask -- F&P Simplus. Higher pressure was causing my nasal mask to leak. I like the full face a lot better, I get better sleep and fewer leaks. However, I brought home a large from the medical supply store and it does leak a little right around my chin. I am wonderi...

Re: increased pressure, now chasing leaks
I have been taking valerian root and melatonin at bedtime. Perhaps the effects of those are lingering through the next day. It's a good idea and one I hadn't thought of. I will try a few nights without and see what my results are. I agree that 10 hours is too much. My best nights are the ones where ...

increased pressure, now chasing leaks
So, I increased my minimum pressure to 9 several weeks ago. I have been sleeping much better. I feel better every morning than I did before. So no doubt about it I am getting better sleep. I still feel tired, though, and still feel like I am not getting enough quality sleep, even though I am sleepin...

Re: First post, trying to tune the machine
Last night was a good night. I woke up feeling pretty good this morning. The only thing I changed was, after watching some of the videos Pugsy recommended, I turned off the A-FLEX setting on my CPAP machine. I had turned AFLEX on when I started increasing the minimum pressure from 5 to 6 to 7 to 8 t...

Re: First post, trying to tune the machine
Great advice Pugsy, thanks for that. I will check out the video. I am just beginning to understand my condition. I am in constant pain. My glossopharyngeal nerve is pinched in my cranial base, which lights up this area inside my head, from my temporal bone down to the back of my throat. My right sty...

Re: First post, trying to tune the machine
I toss and turn so much, I couldn't even begin to count how many times I wake up.

Re: First post, trying to tune the machine
Since I increased my minimum to 9 I have had mixed results. About one good night's sleep for every poor one. This is purely qualitative analysis, just based on how I feel in the morning. Do I feel rested and energized or exhausted? Today I feel exhausted, I just want to crawl back in bed, even thoug...

Re: First post, trying to tune the machine
When I was 12 years old my parents took me to see an orthodontist. He explained that my upper teeth had grown ahead of my lower teeth, and cervical pull headgear would hold my upper teeth back and allow my lower teeth to catch up. I wore the headgear for five years, from age 12 to age 17. I hated it...

Re: Camping
We went camping across the country a year ago and powering my CPAP was an issue. We bought a Goal Zero Yeti portable power station from REI. It was expensive, but we ended up using it for all kinds of things. Mostly charging devices: phones and laptop. It would power my CPAP and power our phones and...

Re: First post, trying to tune the machine
It's 4 AM and am I up, bright eyed and bushy tailed. Machine says it was on for six and a half hours. This happens whenever I get anything approaching restorative sleep. Usually I can't get out of bed after 9 or 10 hours of sleep. I think my body has adapted to getting by on such poor quality sleep ...

Re: First post, trying to tune the machine
OK, thanks for all the feedback folks. It is the minimum I am raising. Started out at 5, now at 8. My AHI is usually between 2 and 4 when I get out of bed in the morning, but if I look at the data it will have risen to 6 overnight. The minimum has been on 8 for a couple weeks now. I will try 9 for t...

First post, trying to tune the machine
Hi, New user here, been using CPAP for about 3 years now. I didn't start adjusting the settings until recently (past few weeks). It came with low setting of 5, and in the morning it would say I had some events and it went up to 6. So I changed the minimum to 6 and it would go up to 7. So I changed i...
