Been using a CPAP for years. Now experiencing chest pain in the morning.
Like the title states; I've been using my CPAP machine for a couple years now. Never had issues until a couple months ago when I started experiencing chest/lung/muscle pain in the morning when I wake up. It goes away about half an hour after I remove my mask. At the time, I was using a pressure of 7...

Can I use boiled tap water in my humidifier tank?
Normally I use distilled water like it suggests, but because of the coronavirus concerns, people are buying up all the water in my area making distilled water difficult to find. So can I boil tap water, allow it to cool, then use that in my CPAP humidifier tank without problem?

Re: Back pain due to pressure being too high?
Last week, I had the pressure on my machine increased to 9 from 7. The first night was fine, but the second night, I woke up in the middle of the night because my upper back was aching. So much so that it was difficult to fall back asleep. I thought it was kinda weird because I haven't done anythin...

Re: Leaving a heated tube out in the sun to dry after cleaning?
Why are you even washing it? Most of us don't bother at all, or only at loooong intervals - it's a closed system after all and whatever goes through the filter, machine and hose goes straight out and doesn't come back... But if you insist, using the machine at bedtime x 10 mins should dry it out an...

Leaving a heated tube out in the sun to dry after cleaning?
Whenever I clean my heated tube, I soak/wash it in the morning, then I hang it up to dry till I go to bed. 12 hours later, and the hose is always still wet on the inside. I usually have to plug it in and let the air run till it blows the water droplets out. I live in Hawaii where it's sunny most of ...

Is a humidifier necessary when you already live in a humid climate?
I've been using my CPAP machine for about 2 month now, and have been using the humidifier ever since I first started using it. I usually have it set to 2 or 3. I live in Hawaii and the humidity is almost always in the 70-90% range, even at night. Sometimes higher. So I was thinking: is it even worth...

I keep drooling in my mask while I'm sleeping.
I wear a full face mask, and 8/10 times, I will drool in my mask while I'm sleeping. Sometimes more than once a night! It wakes me up because I can feel the cold, wetness spreading all over my mouth; sorry, gross, I know. So I have to get up and quickly wipe it out thus breaking my sleep. Is there a...

Re: Mask air leaks after pressure adjustment?
It does have a mask fit feature.... It's called "check mask fit". Do you have the clinical manual for the DreamStation? It's explained in the manual. If you don't have one...request it from here via email https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-pressure/change-cpap-pressure-settings-adjusting-your-m...

Re: Mask air leaks after pressure adjustment?
I stood in the mirror and re-adjusted my mask to a comfortable but snug fit. But when I lay down, the fit completely changes. Use the mask fit feature on your machine...do the fitting using the pressure you will be using during the night. Fit feature on my machine? I don't think my machine has that...

Mask air leaks after pressure adjustment?
I've been using my CPAP for a little over a month now, and my pressure has been set to 5 cmH2O since I started using it. Earlier this week, my doctor called and said she wanted to try out 7 cmH2O, which was okay with me. The new pressure feels fine for me to breathe in and out comfortably, but I'm h...

Best soaps to use when cleaning hose and mask?
I used vinegar and water once to clean my heated hose and greatly regretted that. The vinegar smell didn't go away for days! Definitely not doing that again. Since then, I've just been using hot water to clean my various parts. I wanted to try using a gentle soap, but which one would be best? Did so...

Okay, good to know. I rinsed it out again today but I'll ease off it for now unless I see stuff in it. Really appreciate the responses, everyone!

Am I supposed to clean my heated hose every day?
Hey, everyone. I'm new here, I just got my first CPAP machine a couple days ago. When I got my machine, they gave me a care/maintenance sheet. It says how often certain parts must be changed or cleaned. On this list, two items say to be cleaned daily: the heated hose and the mask cushion. The mask c...
