Re: Does anyone else have a BAD gag reflex
I have always had a really bad gag reflex. I haven't really noticed it one way or another since I started treating my OSA. I'll have to take note and see if it's better tomorrow morning when I brush my teeth.

For some reason, one chart didn't upload. Trying again. Here's a 4-20 night.

Charts at various pressures. Did I overshoot?
My pulmonologist started me at 4-20, Which I used faithfully for 2 months. My median pressure was always in the 8-9 range, so I increased my min to 7 and turned on EPR. I was still seeing some spikes, and my min was still in the 8ish range, so I bumped it to 9. So, am I still headed in the right dir...

sleepyhead is better. OSCAR is in beta testing, and is based on Sleepyhead. Once it's released it will replace SH.

Re: Atenolol
My question was and remains, has anyone experienced reduced tolerance to atenolol as sleep apnea improves. Here's a study that kinda sorta answers your question: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3927443/ In adults with moderate to severe OSA and resistant hyper-tension despite optimal a...

Re: Atenolol
Beta blockers bind to beta receptors, which are found on many different types of cells in the body. Beta receptors are the sites at which epinephrine (commonly known as adrenaline) and norepinephrine exert their effects. When a beta blocker binds to these beta receptors, epinephrine and norepi are b...

Re: AHI increase after valium withdrawal
For me, it’s fatigue, benzo belly, taper-induced weight gain and high blood sugar. Benzos are ruthless. Taking metformin and eating keto to deal with weight and early T2D. I’ve been off valium for six weeks. If you have diabetes, be extremely careful on the keto diet. I've seen even people with bor...

Re: Atenolol
gocamels, good idea! I’ll do that. Good luck to you. One other question comes to mind. Any specific reason your doctor is having you take your atenolol twice daily? The antihypertensive effect usually lasts 24 hours for most patients. I have known patients who needed to take half their dose twice d...

Re: Air blowing on partner
A bit of filter material or some other porous cloth could act as an effective diffuser to break up that hard jet of air coming from the mask, since you're happy with that particular mask. I took an extra filter and cut it to fit the vent, then taped it on with porous tape we use in the hospital for...

Re: AHI increase after valium withdrawal
You'll see in the literature that the terminal half-life of valium's main active metabolite is roughly 100 hours - so theoretically 500 hours (3 weeks) until it's cleared out. Thanks, gocamels! I’m wondering if enough research has been done on desmethydiazepam clearance rate to absolutely verify th...

If you liked the P10 except for the headgear... Look at the ResMed Swift FX nasal pillow mask. Thanks! I ordered the Swift FX, and it arrived yesterday. I promptly slept 8.5 hours with a 0.9 ahi. I haven't looked at the SH data yet, but I'm not nearly as out of it as I've been feeling. I think I fo...

Re: Atenolol
Do you keep a blood pressure and/or heart rate journal? The best thing you can do is track both at least once daily from now until you see your doctor. It's much easier to tell if your cardiac issues are under control - or overmedicated - if your doctor has a couple of weeks' worth of data instead o...

Re: Needing some help please. Sleepyhead snapshot included.
I googled Vyvanse half life and it says 4.3 - 5.5 hours. I still plan on going a weekend without it just to see. The only bad part of that is when I do have a 2 day weekend one day is mostly my younger kids soccer all day and Sunday is work around the house after sleeping in and sometimes a nap if ...

Re: Study suggests atomoxetine/oxybutynin combo reduces AHI
There has to be missing data in this abstract. Just looking at what's available, my guess would be that the drugs didn't decrease the number of events, but possibly the severity of those events. Impossible to evaluate with incomplete data. And it's all pretty meaningless given the sample size and tr...
