Re: Waking up with heart racing, low O2, without any OA/CA events
Did you turn the machine off right there? Any chance it turned off by itself and left you unable to breath? That’s what I was just experiencing recently.

Re: How long is too long from sleep study ordered till getting your CPAP??
That’s why I went through Lofta - I didn’t want to wait two months just for a consultation.
♂️ Turned out my insurance wouldn’t have covered my type of apnea anyway so I would’ve just waited for nothing. Lol

Re: Apneas Whilst TRYING to sleep/wakefulness
Any tips for getting anxiety under control? Untreated sleep apnea is a major cause of anxiety. Maybe yours was resolved by the use of CPAP? The sleep apnea definitely wasn’t helping, but nursing school has been a source of a good deal of anxiety the last year. I started seeing a psychiatrist and a ...

Re: Waking up unable to breath
Just wanted to follow up and say that seems to have been the issue. I’m glad I came here and asked, thanks again.

Re: Apneas Whilst TRYING to sleep/wakefulness
Yes, those are no fun at all. The same has been happening to me for almost a year. Was told it was sleep myoclonus, or "sleep starts". Do you wake violently making a loud gasping noise? This mostly happens when I try to nap, but I also have nights where this happens several times before I actually ...

Re: Apneas Whilst TRYING to sleep/wakefulness
I have had those nights frequently when I was dealing with a lot of anxiety. Got the anxiety under control and haven't experienced that since.

Re: Waking up unable to breath
When I had my machine on smartstart it began shutting down on its own. I would wake up, breath out forcefully and it would start up again. That was not a good thing. I turned off smartstart and have had no problems since. Just turn on and off manually. I just checked my sleeptracker - I was still a...

Waking up unable to breath
I'm not sure what's going on but I think this has happened several times lately. I'll wake up in the middle of the night, feel like I am suffocating, and after a few moments am able to breath and go back to sleep. I think I normally leave the mask on during these episodes, but last night I actually ...

Re: First night with CPAP completed!
Well, we had some cold weather blow back in yesterday and the humidity tanked. I think I am going to have to give in and strap my face shut so I stop breathing through my mouth. I sleep pretty decent for the first half of the night, but once my mouth gets all glued up I just feel miserable. I...

Re: Airfit F30
Well I gave it one more shot last night but only lasted a few hours with it because I keep waking up with leaks around my mouth. At one point I even clamped it down pretty good on the bottom and it still leaked and I was on my back. I realized though that even though I breath through my nose when I'...

Re: Airfit F30
If you can get sufficient air through the nasal passages, clamping the mouth shut is a good thing. I adjust my Innomed Hybrid mask so the mouthpiece tends to keep my lips sealed shut. My sinuses are not great which is why I went with the FFM in the first place. I was looking at my sleepyhead data f...

Re: Airfit F30
I just got the F30 yesterday. I loved the cushion under the nose, but the medium mouth cover seems to be too small for me. Maybe it's normal, but I can feel the edges of the cushion just inside the corners of my mouth and it drives me nuts. Also the whole thing just seemed to be like a clamp keeping...

Re: treating mild OSA
Mine was considered mild if you average the entirety of my sleep, but was causing me to sit up gasping for air multiple times per night, which subsequently would give me a panic attack, which eventually led to me having anxiety BEFORE bedtime because I knew I was going to wake up having these events...

Re: First night with CPAP completed!
just my two cents worth, but i prefer xylimelts over biotene. i've found that biotene doesn't last as long and can be easily washed away if, like me, you are dumb enough to drink water afterwards. as always, YMMV. Thanks - I actually just saw those on a CPAP site and was wondering if they wer...

Re: First night with CPAP completed!
The humidifier wasn't designed to hydrate the oral cavity. It was designed to hydrate the nasal cavity which is quite a bit smaller. Sometimes people just get dry mouth easier than others and when you add in mouth breathing even with a full face mask and machine set to maximum humidity it simply is...
